Knicks · PLAYOFF THREAD 2020-21 (and around the league) (page 1)

Is there really a Dominate team going into these playoffs. I feel like this thing is WIDE OPEN and we should expect a few upsets.

The Nets are still MY favorite to win it all (if they stay healthy) but I would bet on it.

There's really about 6 teams in the west that can get to Finals if they all play up to their potential.

When will Round 1, Game 1 be scheduled? Hoping it starts next Saturday evening for NYK.
Nalod @ 5/17/2021 10:33 AM
chips are won or lost on the training table most years.
NO dominant team as dictated by the records. League has achieved a sort of parity. GSW did not run the table year after year given free agency (DUrant came and left, they got some nice assets via sign and trades) and despite Nets on paper dominance, Durants return was expected to take time given his age and sittin gout a year. Few players, even Kobe come back the same right away. It takes time.
Predictions? LOL, we sound all so smart based on "Well if this team can be healthy.........Or that team can get chemistry"............
Personally I'd like to see Utah break thru in the west. Them or Denver. Michael Porter is the key there stepping up. In the east, from a basketball standpoint, Nets are facinating. Did anyone see that Globtrotter shyt they pulled yesterday? The off the backboard pass was not just showboat, it worked to move the defense player for Durant to get an easy dunk. I know its nets and they hated but it was fun to watch. Do I want them to win? I really don't care who wins outside Knicks. Maybe its time Doc Rivers gets another run and Philly gets one done? Its fun for new teams to break thru. If Knicks don't win someone else will.

Phili/Brk out of the east... hard to see it not being Brk if they are healthy. Its a mad amount of talent. Mia isnt good enough to replicate their bubble run and Milw has trouble closing games but they have the depth if they get hot.

West is pretty open

VDesai @ 5/17/2021 10:43 AM
Brooklyn trying to time their health for the playoffs, but didn't play together enough to just up and win the title IMO.
I just never count out Lebron, but that's not a great team.
If Murray didn't get hurt, I'd ride Denver to the title, but losing him makes them lose their wild card.
I feel like Philly can get clipped by the right team (what if the Wiz get hot?)
Miami is scary based on how they turned it on last year.
Its open for sure. Even we can win this (though I'm just happy to be in the conversation!)

Is first round best of five? I’ve searched and haven’t gotten a clear result!

No, best of 7 for a while now. Wish it was still 5 though.

Hated best of 5. Too up for grabs.

Thanks -- thinking that may be to our advantage? We have home court obviously, but also we are fairly deep and physical.

It's been a while since most Knicks fans had to pay attention.

Heyyy Man That's Bullocks QUOTE.

I never liked KD's personality, but that doesn't mean i wouldn't want him on my team, He's just too talented

Harden is selfish, Durant is plagiaristic, and Kyrie is a total flake. I’m not planing a vacation with them. They can ball.
Nalod @ 5/18/2021 10:00 AM
Both Knicks and hawks get a week to regroup. I don’t know if Hawks have anyone coming off injury or even familiar with their rotation.

Given the “Payton” thing it will be curious to see with a week off the knicks tinker with the rotation.
I’m sure ATL is practicing and doing all the good things good teams do.
Nate Mac is a good seasoned coach.
Thibs is the evil genius who will not sleep and cook up all kinds of schematics. At least thats our thinking.
Series will ebb and flow. We stop Trae, who steps up? Etc etc. They stop Randle, what are they giving us?

This will be fun.

He thinks, therefore he is.

If the Nets happen to fall in the first round to Russ, it's going to be very ugly in Brooklyn.

I think when KD and kyrie teamed up to go to the nets they honestly thought they will out shine the knicks. KD is just an attention seeker. It looks pathetic stealing Bullock's quote. Maybe he can't reconcile why all the attention is on the knicks when they just clinched the 2nd seed. 🤣 im not really a fan of teams creating superteams. All these years I've stuck with the knicks through out all the loosing seasons waiting for this magical season to happen! I always wanted the knicks to build a contender and not outsource a team of superstar to get the championship. If the Nets win the championship, personally it just seems cheap. I hope the Knicks front office sticks to their guns and build a contender slowly but surely, better to build it right and make a dynasty than winning 1 championship then the next year you rebuild without any draft capital to help the new build.

I still go Thibs (just a little biased), but Monty did an incredible job with that Phoenix team. Can't argue for too long on that one.
