Knicks · I did not care for the "fck Trae Young" chants (page 3)
Seems fans coming out of covid in other cities forgot how to act too. This I not just NY.
Trae flops all the time? I don’t know the stat.
I am dissaponted in Macri as he goes off on him being not so handsome. If he aims to be respected let it be n other content and wit, not a mans looks.
Trae plays to get fouls? So dos IQ. The foul in game one with Barrett? There was contact. Thats on the ref to call it or not. Its his job to get to the line. I did not like the call but replay showed it as such.
This is a mature group on the UK. Soft? Really? LEts just say some taunts are brilliant and some are lame. Revert to vulgarity is lame. Remember the women giving the finger to Noah when he was with bulls in Miami? IT was a WTF moment she likley regrets.
MSG was always respected for having knowledgeable fans. I hate sitting with homer’s who whine about fouls because it goes against.
I like to sit with people who will remark and respect when the other team does something good. Give credit, sometimes you flat out get beat by a superior team.
Maybe Society is getting soft. Trumpians can’t handle he lost the last election and stay in denial.
Not facing reality is soft as hell. Blame the refs, blame the league,, blame Stern...... Thats soft.
Smart fans are cool. Exuberant fans are cool. Mobs are not.
The HEAT rivalry started with pat riley faxing in his resignation so he could take his talents to miami
and the pacers rivalry started with Spike lee talking sht to Reggie Miller.
I was embarrassed by the fact we celebrated 1 win like we won the Eastern Conference finals

Click here to view the TweetPretty easily solved. Start hitting the Knicks with technical fouls if the vulgarity is over the top.
Tier one swear words not allowed— not needed— not necessary. The guy who actually spit at trae young— reality is he should face criminal charges. How would he like to be spit on?
I agree

Agree. The rivalry started with the Fax but meeting them in the playoffs is what galvanized that rivalry in that era. You also had the great matchups of Mourning and Ewing. Tim Hardaway sr was a perfect trash talking villain for that team. By the time PJ brown midget tossed Charlie the rivalries were already a few years into itself.
Like a generation before the knicks seemingly had to get thru the Baltimore Bullets in the playoffs and knicks in 1971 were defending champs and got knocked out. The teams were characteristically similar roster constructions to also fuel a rivalry. Unseld vs Reed, Gus vs Dave, Marin vs Bradley, and Clyde vs earl. Made for great theatre.
When I see young teen girls giving the finger to the players its a mob. That Crowd was not guys in suits competing to game after work. there were fewer women. It looked a lot like the pubescent knick fans that go the NBA draft and act the fool. Not the regular season ticket people. Suburban Wrestlemania kids whose parents voted for Trump seemed to be a dominant demographic..........AKA: A lot of under 25 white males! LOL
I’m happy to see exuberance among the fans. “Act like you been there before and be cool”. Well, its been a while for fans and if its not the regular season crowd then its to be expected as they have not been before.
Be interesting to see what ATL brings. Its a diverse population as people have moved there from all over and knick fans usually come out in droves.

Do the throat slash when they think the game is over.

Obviously spitting on a player or dumping popcorn on them is totally unacceptable and ridiculous. And yelling profanity is also off limits. But to me, if it's all in funny I have no problem with fans getting on Trae. It's part of the territory of being an athlete preforming in public. Anybody who has a problem with it probably never played hoops in a NYC playground.

I hate Young beause he is a flopping bitch. For f's sake we lost game 1 because he flopped when Barrett grazed him and you guys are defending him. The guy is the embodiment of everything I dislike about the NBA
Exactly brother. Say it with your chest. When did this forum get so soft?
If spitting on a player is considered macho I’d rather be a snowflake
I’m guessing a large percentage of those “tough” fans who curse and spit are still living in mom’s basement and spending their stimulus money on beer and fireworks.

I mean It's NY, the largest market in the world with a fan base that stretches around the globe, Passionate young fans do dumb sht
A lot of what we see now is because social media has made things so transparent. A guy spits on a player and before he is even exited out the building half the world has seen his face...

i think it's a 2-way street. people are doing it in the first place because social media promotes the lure of instant exposure and fame/infamy. what kind of people is that going to appeal to. plus trump set a new low bar in his "rallies" with proffering legitimacy to mob psychology-enabled violence. leading eventually to the january 6 delight.
how ya like that s**t?

Never condoned the spitter. And please don't lump all fans who chant with one dumb spitter.

To me any physical interaction with players is off limits.
However, I agree with your first paragraph 100% in that it is a two way street. Players curse into the crowd and taunt all the time. Words are words. Honestly, I have more problems with the "Trae is balding" chants (on the real, dude needs to wear a headband. Not making fun but everytime he runs and that shit bounces up and down in the back, I am reminded of that Donald Trump pick where his comb over got caught in the wind getting off the plane) than the "F Trae Young" chants. I'm not a chanter ever, but me personally, I prefer to keep taunting ball related. I think anything else is just weak.

I should of clarified my post. The spitting is way over the line. I hate Trae Young the player but assaulting the guy is going way to far. I'm fine with the chants. I hate how the NBA gives this guys free throws for minor contact. A stiff breeze throws him to the ground. Stop rewarding him for being weak.

Not really a Trae Young problem but rather the nba has gone over board with their foul policies. I’m not sure why anyone would say they hate trae young— hates a strong word.

I don’t mind if minor stuff is called - certainly don’t want the NBA to turn into a concussion- and fight-filled mugfest that is the NHL - but the key here is to do so consistently and even-handedly. There is already so much unfairness and corruption in the real world, spectator sports should offer an escape from that.

Maybe I don’t “hate” the guy, but I definitely have a strong dislike for him after bullshit plays. He embodies what’s wrong with the NBA today.
That said, his non-bullshit plays deserve credit.
And for the record, when IQ engages in the same type of fuckery I do feel a tinge of embarrassment. But he’s less obvious about it, and so damn likable!
