Knicks · I Want Cade (page 1)

Philc1 @ 5/30/2021 3:30 PM
Offer whoever wins the lottery Julius, IQ, and the 4 first round picks we got next 2 years

This guy is that damn good. He might be better than Ja Morant

houston20 @ 5/30/2021 3:39 PM
That was never going happen dude after or before the season especially with thibs.
BigDaddyG @ 5/30/2021 3:40 PM
Maybe we can get a team together to kidnap Cade and ransom him off the Knicks.
Philc1 @ 5/30/2021 3:45 PM
Wolves are probably getting the #1 pick(again). They already just drafted Edwards and also have Russell

Offer them a nice package

You can play Cade almost anywhere. They'll want to keep him. But they might be willing to trade Russell. We all know his negatives, but he can pass and create.

I’d take Russell. Absolutely

Unless we're getting a really stellar talent, I don't think we're in the conversation of championship caliber teams with what we have talent wise.

So adding Russell, I just don't think that is enough to materially influence the talent into the next tier.

We're going to be an overacheiving squad that will probably end up missing the playoffs next year because players that get played too much break down.

And we'll be exactly where we are now (if we're lucky) with no assets to build around him.

I don't think we would be. I don't think whoever wins the lottery is trading that pick, but look at what Dallas and Atlanta did - both ended up with a franchise talent. We ended up with Kevin Knox. If we had had the assets then, and the FO talent to be aware of NBA talent, we should have traded up.

If we can trade Julius, IQ & a bunch of draft picks and come away with a franchise talent like Luka or Trae Young, you do it.

...or you can end up with a Andrew Wiggins or a Marvin Bagley of a D'Angelo Russell. If the #1 pick is such a sure thing can't miss franchise player why would the other team even consider that deal?
TheGame @ 5/30/2021 8:43 PM
We don't have the assets to trade into the top-3. We likely may offer Kevin Knox and our first pick (and maybe the third pick) if there is a top-flight point guard that falls in the 9-14 range. Otherwise, I think we stand pat or make a move like last year. In this draft, we need to a get a solid PG and a solid 6'8" -6'9" SF who can hit a 3 and guard the position.
Knicksfan @ 5/30/2021 10:02 PM
Lol

That ship sailed when we overachieved with a flawed team and thought progress and winning culture was better than great players. While it is important, this team lacks the same amount of talent they did at the beginning of the season. RJ is still super green and inconsistent to be a reliable #2 and Randle is far from a #1 or even a #2, so all we will have is the fake 4th seed, a lone playoff win and, well, to be fair, some flexibility on cap and picks. But we need real stars. Honestly, anyone except probably RJ, Obi and Quickley should be available in deals for anyone that could get the talent level up.

I agree, but even in that way it sucks because a bunch of these guys are expiring...... plus this year’s FA is weak as all hell.

Because it’s the timberwolves. They’re arguably the most dysfunctional franchise in the nba

Great, and what when it turns out that Cade is “Wiggins” after all, and not “Durant”? Cade looks great, but you never know. What if you stay with "Wiggins", and no Randle and no picks?

Stupid franchises make panic moves that are not based on an analytical system but happen “in affect”. Smart franchises use the stupid moves of stupid franchises and laugh at getting what they want for a small price.

This is not going against Cade, who seems really good, but there is simply no chance that we can trade for him, but I am talking about the very idea that we "should break everything up again and start from the beginning" when we have a good foundation and it's clear what we lack. Starting PG and wing scorer.

That would be a lot to give up for an unproven rookie. That is why teams only trade up to top-3, when they already have a top 4-7 pick to offer. Otherwise, you end up giving up too much for the pick. Cade is good, but you don’t trade your #1 player, a promising rookie and 4 other picks for an unproven rookie, no matter how good that rookie might be.

The ONLY example I can think of a team doing anything similar to this was when Golden State traded #3 (Penny Hardaway) and three other first round picks for #1 pick Chris Webber. Essentially traded 4 first round picks to move up two spots.

Yup. I would trade Randle for the right return and I would even trade those 4 picks alone for Cade but that whole package is rough. He has his weaknesses too.

But yes.... I would really love Cade or Suggs to be on the Knicks.

Dysfunctional and being stupid are different.
