Norm is a really good player who would help. Depends on the cost, but if its reasonable he's very good and would immediately improve us at. I like him a lot.

If we are looking at Portland players, outside of Dame, Covington is a player I would go after.

He was averaging 23pts per game in Tor before moved and 16-20 the 2 yrs prior. Burks has never averaged that in his career. He has shot around 47+% fg & 40% from 3 the last 3 yrs on good amount of volume. Gets to the line 4+ times a game.

In Portland he mostly played out of position and still was able to produce at an efficient rate. For the Knicks he's sliding right back in to SG for 30+ mins.

Powell has a ring. But he was not the alpha either?
Powell is a role player. Not prime time SG. He can guard bigger guards with is wing span.
Free agents are not free for a reason. There is a value and if you exceed it you live with it.

He may cost 20 million a year for a modest upgrade over Burks / Bullock. Not a bad player but I'm not sure he makes us that much better for the increase in cost

Barrett loses a lot of his defensive value at SF. He goes from being bigger and stronger than the majority of SG's to being at best middle of the road.

Again the market isn’t strong for Powell given his options. Knicks have 60+mil in cap and don’t have any long term contract commitments. There is also no rush to extend Randle or Mitch until sometime next season if that’s what they decide. Cap flexibility isn’t a problem here. He does not negate Knicks from pursuing elite level star talent if those options presented themselves.

At the same ages neither Bullock or Burks have ever produced like Powell nor have his playoff experience. Which is why they were journeymen signing cheap deals when Knicks got them. And he will be high valued FA target.

He scores putting up 48-40-88 type % at 18-19ppg. This is efficient production that someone like Thibs can really use.

RJ doesn’t have strong handle and isn’t a super athlete. He also will only get bigger as he gets older given his frame at now 20yrs old going into 21. Which is why his developed 3pt shot has been so crucial. The value of adding an efficient scoring SG to pair with hold higher value that him playing with lesser talent in order to keep him at SG. Where as Young exposed. A team can just put the smaller player on Bullock and have the bigger wing defend RJ anyway.

Knicks could sign Powell and CP3 (who wants to play at MSG) and keep all their assets in the draft. Even if they dont bring back Rose/Taj (I think they do somehow) they Knicks would look like this next year: (bench are players currently under contract)
