pg: Vildoza, Rose
Sg: Barrett, Quickley
Sf: Knox
Pf: Randle, Toppin, Gibson
C: Robinson, Pelle

That's 10 guys plus two picks is 12. Knicks could also use the 5 million dollar room exception. If they did, they could have one 5 million free agent and 2 worth 32 million.

oh wow, thanks for this.

Yeah, I still can't believe it. I have been playing with it all day. It's a little glitchy; you can renounce FAs and then sign them with their bird rights intact. Once your team is over the cap it allows you to automatically sign using bird rights. Either way its an anazing tool.

Its especially good for seeing the FA crunch teams are in, assuming they want to avoid the tax. I think Rubio is a good candidate to pursue in a trade. Minny is paying DLo, Rubio, and Malik Beasley 60 million total. Just keeping the roster together and adding last years pick Bolmaro puts them at the luxury tax and 3 roster spots.

The Knicks want to add a starting PG but protect next seasons cap space. Rubio is an expuring contract. Minny needs depth so Knicks trade Vildoza, Knox, and a second round pick. Minny clears 10 million in cap space. They can use their full MLE without hitting the lux tax.

I didn't realize Spotrac added this. This is much better than TradeNBA

Rubio is an interesting idea and I like it - but think keeping Vildoza would be wise as Rubio could possibly serve as a mentor for him.

Thibs already had Rubio in Minnesota and moved from him quickly. I think a move like that would be considered in a last minute, desperate grab for a PG.

You never can tell.

Kawahi in MSG with a year on the shelf?
I can see Mav’s moving KP to clippers in a partial sign and trade.
Naturally Miami makes sense as we over value Riley but pairing him with Jimmy could be combustible.

Sign this beast with a max contract. I could care less if he doesn’t play until November 2022. We’ll still be competitive next year and then we’ll be legit title contenders the following year with about a 2-3 year window

jskinny35 @ 7/24/2021 11:33 PM
I really hope we don't pursue Kawhi - no question he was a great player but a lot of miles on those legs and giving a max to wait a year to see if he recovers and is the player of old is too risky IMO. I will admit I was wrong saying the same thing about KD but I also didn't want Kyrie anywhere near MSG.
gradyandrew @ 7/24/2021 11:43 PM
Kawhi leaving mskes zero sense. He was on the lux box cheering his guys on during the playoffs. If he was leaving he would have stayed home. This is just about maxing his salary. LAC will be close enough to the hard cap that it will make receiving guys in a sign and trade unfeasible.

Rubio is definitely an upgrade over Elf but there are way better options

The difference is Kawahi is actually a very mentally tough player who can handle NY and isn’t an insecure douche like Durant.

I give Kyrie/KD one more year before it blows up

I dunno. I don’t think Kawhi makes decisions the way you speak. I mean, a week after winning a championship he is out buying moving boxes at HomeDepot.

Smart money is still clearly on him staying in LA. But I don’t draw that from him cheering his team on. If his ACL is holding him out a season, is he even opting out without a long term contract guaranty?

gradyandrew @ 7/25/2021 11:32 AM
I think Kawhi opts out and then resigns with the LAC. He isn't worried about them not resigning him. He picked George as the guy he wanted to play with and George has held up his side of the deal. He likes the coach, who he also picked. I just dont see any scenario where Kawhi goes.

The issue with a lot of free agent pg is that they will be hoping for a multi year deal. Rubio upgrades the position next year but then opens space for next summer.
