Why mess with the ‘heart and soul’ of this team?Certainly, there are some positions that scream for an upgrade. Be careful wishing for players pushing past 30 years old. Reputations are about the past. Going young and smart is about building sustainable model. Haven’t we had enough attempts at a quick fix?
Do NOT sign ANY free agent older than 27
We’ve been down that road too many times before.
THIS TIME, BE SMART
The best trade in the history of the NYK franchise was a stroke of Eddie Donovan genius. It involved acquiring just ONE versatile player who changed the equation. Walt Bellamy and Howie Komives for Dave DeBusschere. We held on to our core that included Frazier and Reed.
“The DeBusschere deal stands as proof that sometimes it’s worth it to make a major trade, while also representing evidence that trades are better when they leave you with some decent players and don’t completely deplete your entire roster in the name of getting one big star.”
The DeBusschere deal is a lesson to remember.
He was 28 years old.
My beloved New York Knicks simply need to bundle, or uncover one diamond in the rough, with their two first round draft selections.
The front office finally has some stability and continuity. (Thanks Clyde) Hopefully, Thibs has a voice in choosing the groceries.
Please name just one available player that would be the equivalent of Dave DeBusschere as a defensive enforcer / rebounder/ offensive weapon who can shoot with positive results from 20 feet?

If you want to keep it simple it should be all about a championship sooner than Later.
They have to spend wisely, don't be cheap, and don't over spend, find a balance, and build a balance team of youth, vets, leadership
We don't have stability because this front office and coaching staff is just a yr in. But If you want stability you have to keep getting better every yr
Don't worry about the age of a player, injuries have no age limit, KP will show you that, Kyrie will show you that, steph will show you that. If the player fills a need, is productive, and could fit in with the rest of the roster, than do you homework and jump on it.
Its that simple
