I remember last years draft felt like we were trapped in limbo and would never come, this one is zooming by. I don’t know if its the players in this years draft or that last years went on for so long (or our picks are lower), but I’m not particularly excited about this years picks- just don’t see us landing a huge difference player. But hopefully we get a nice bench guy

Look at teams left in NBA playoffs have done, build by draft with lots of picks.

I'd be cool with this. The problem is, you can't have high expectations to compete if you do this. Knox, Randle, IQ, Mitch, Obi and RJ are guaranteed to come back, barring a trade. I'll throw Theo Pinson in there as well . That's 6-7 roster spots right there. That's almost half the teams active roster spots. I'm assuming the last second-round pick will be traded, sold, used on a draft and stash, or won't make the team. That leaves the three first-rounders (I think of the 32nd pick as a late-first rounder). The roster is up to 9-10 roster spots, leaving three active spots. Assuming Luca makes the team, that's 10-11. Let's say they bring back Taj on a cheap deal so there's a vet big man. 11-12 spots, which leaves one to two active roster spots. The team probably still need a starting PG and Vet wing. In a perfect world, all three rookies exceed excpections. Realistically, they all struggle learning the league to some extent. If you keep all picks, then you're conceding that next season is kind of interstitial. Do you have the patience? I'm cool punting on free agency this year, but I wonder about the rest of the fan base.

You are right. Rose too.

I am hopeful that Knox is traded.

Interstitial. I like that

You have a point. I agree that is unlikely to use all 3 (4?) picks. Be sure to include a 2 way spot. Doubt Pinson gets something other than a 2 way spot.

That said, if you take all 3 picks and include Knox, Vildoza, Pelle, That's 6 spots for players that aren't automatically in the rotation.

You have to imagine that Vildoza and Pelle either are within the 10 man rotation or waived. They are like free options to find something better.

I put Pinson and #58 as my 2 way players.

Assuming we find room for Rose and Gibson as our veteran presence, you are left with 2 roster spots and the following.

1) Randle
2) Barrett
3) IQ
4) [Rose]
5) Toppin
6) Robinson
7) [Vildoza] (Not Guaranteed)
8) [Bullock]
9)
10) #19
11) #21
12) #32
13) Knox
14) [Pelle] (Not Guaranteed)
15) [Taj]
2Way Pinson
2Way #58

I've been viewing 19, 21 and 32 as the back of the rotation. A chance to add depth to the "practice squad" that will be a fresh pair of legs if any of the rotation goes down. But there isn't a lot more room for actual players if we keep those picks.

I got a funny feeling we’re making a trade draft night

Great list.

Feel like Pelle was only on roster after both Mitch went down and Noel was banged up. If you draft a big, Pelle is not kept.

I am glass half full on Luca and think he makes the team.

Spot on with Pinson and #58 (and think this may also could be stash pick).

Also think the Knicks do not take 3 picks but we shall see.

This is the first draft in recent memory where the fan base isn’t killing each other over guys. It’s such an abundance of talent you can’t become hyper focused on your favorite.

Feels good

EwingsGlass @ 7/4/2021 11:56 PM
As of this moment, I am with

19) Miles McBride
21) Trey Murphy
32) Jericho Sims.

Per above, doubt we use all three, but I’d be pretty happy with this.

Interesting draft. If those guys were on the board I'd go Alperen Sengun at #19 cause I'd assume Atlanta would target Sengun over Duarte cause of the roster make up.

Agree 100%. Atlanta won’t take Duarte

They have Bruno, who may be a bust, and Okongwu. Not sure it's a given they take Alperen if he falls. I'd say it depends how they view Collins and his possible extension. I don't think it's likely, but I wouldn't be shocked if they went Cooper in that scenario.

Oh absolutely with Cooper, he'd be a great backup fit for Atlanta

They have so many wing players but might lose Collins

BRIGGS @ 7/7/2021 3:16 PM
I think Sengun is the new Louis Scola. Im not worried about some length on D versus complete player skill with motor. Hes a HUGE plus player with great potential who does it at 18 against adults. Its not drafting over Mitch or Obi either--he does things they dont.
TripleThreat @ 7/9/2021 5:56 AM
Hearing from multiple sources the same names being associated with the Knicks right now.

Kai Jones and Jared Butler.

Basic Knicks draft. Seems pretty much easy to call.

I think pick 32 is gonna be our highest value pick. Someone from rd 1 is gonna fall.

I like that path and draft combo and figured #32 would be the high risk/value pick

Any updates on Butler's health status? They're bringing Vrenz in for a workout. Perfect draft and stash candidate. Kai has a lot of upside, but is raw. I can see him being focal point on the G-League squad next year.

This would be my ultimate draft. But would Butler fall that far?

I wouldn’t be disappointed

I think these players just solidifies more important pieces to the teams long term success but no game changers.
