He's 31, and just came off of a big playoffs. He was essentially the second best player on a WCF team. He's a CAA client and based on salary cap restrictions, he can only re-sign for as much as 10 mil per year with the Clippers. He probably wants to stay, but Knicks can offer 2/30 mil or 3/45 and easily make him think twice. He isn't a long-term solution but can be a good PG for the next couple years who can shoot, get to the rim, and play solid defense. He can play in multi-guard lineups too and can pair nicely with Rose and Quickley. What are your thoughts on him as a less costly PG option this summer compared to Ball, Lowry, etc?
As a 2 year low cost option he's worth considering. I like Ball at 20m better as a fit, but would go to R.Jackson before K.Lowry or trading the future for Dame.
he's ok... his best years were jacking shots on bad teams, although those Detroit teams built around guys like Monroe and Drummond were not very good.
He's a lot like Burks IMO... you are gonna love him off the bench draining shots. He's also a scorer and not a floor general type, which I really hope we could find. Someone who could generate offense for others is sorely needed

If we keep DRose I'm not sure Jackson adds much to the mix.

I think the idea is to have both Jackson and Rose, who have overlapping skillsets, so you don't have to rely on one or the other too much. Each player is probably best playing 24-26 mpg. They can play together but you can also always have one on the floor. With them and a hopefully improved Quickley, the severe shot creation issues we had in the playoffs (and also during the regular season to some extent) would at least be temporarily resolved. The only real drawback to signing Ball for example is you add a nice young guard but don't resolve the biggest issue which seems to be halfcourt playmaking/shot creation. Jackson would at least resolve that alongside resigning rose for the next 2 years.
At 15mm I’d bring back Timmy JR for a 3rd tour. Keep doing it until we get it right!
Reggie is not my PG floor spacer.
Bigger question is what is the chess game with Nola regarding Lonzo? Is the 19th pick enough? Oh wait, throw in Knox with the 100 white castles we got!
Aller will likely do this, but with a pick swap, then package it with the 21st, then we end up with Lonzo and like the 14th pick…..
The we scratch our asses until someone blogs how great it was then we woke and love it.

Can we trade for a free agent in the draft? How would that work? We can't negotiate until after the draft right?
Lonzo is a free agent and cannot be part of any trade during the draft but only when the free agency starts through sign & trade. But that doesn’t mean you can’t arrange everything, pick a player or players for the Pelicans and do the sign & trade when the free agency starts.

Wasn’t sure of arranging things ahead of time, how lowkey you have to be about it. If they are restricted than I think it loosens the negotiation process a bit right ?

I think the short answer is just No you can't
I can totally see him thriving here.

Jackson has a reputation of being locker room poison. While he might have changed as his career options tanked that legacy will likely impact his future pathways in the NBA.
The most I'd go is 1 year/6 million. Anything more would not be profitable for Frito Lay.
If you meet a woman who has always cheated on her husband, you don't believe the lies she tells. You don't believe her when she bad mouths him and say he ignores her and does this and doesn't do that. You don't try to marry that woman. At most, she's just your Tuesday night for a few hours. If you give her more than Tuesday night ( no sleepovers), then you will soon realize the rest of the madness that stirs inside someone who is OK with cheating on her husband and badmouthing him to others.
For the record, I don't mess with married chicks. I don't need that kind of psychotic drama in my life. But the methodology is the same here for the Knicks and Reggie Jackson. You don't get into a full blown long term committed relationship with an established village bicycle.
Guys like Jackson, if they finally find a place that understands how to manage their insane behavior, should just stay there.

I haven’t heard the whole locker room issue for him before. Interesting.

who cares, its so much better when Triple installs his rules/laws of dating and negotiation thru the female pursuit then contrasts them with NBA players!
Like most things it comes down to sex. Basically if the knicks were a dude which players (females) do we want to fuck? Ok to have non commit sloppy bathroom sex, drunk back seat sex, in the ally on dumpster sex, her apartment sex, your apartment sex, dating sex, but has to be perfect for long term live in. Never marriage because all players have contracts that expire and Triple will never marry. If so I want to be invited to the wedding and ever anniversary party as long as the marriage lasts. I want to hear him give a toast!

Ofcourse he does. He would start and Rose would go back to the role that suits him which would be 6th man

If he ever did have that reputation it’s since changed. His teammates on the Clippers love him.
