If he can hold that weight Abd still get up. He’s gonna be a beast and we’ll be better

WOODMANnYk @ 7/9/2021 1:03 AM
HE will lose some of that athleticism
Philc1 @ 7/9/2021 3:14 AM
Yeah it’s a tough balancing act. So much of Mitch’s ability on defense is based on not only his excellent leaping ability but also his quickness. But yeah a little weight gain is needed though I wonder if this weight gain is muscle weight or fat
TheGame @ 7/9/2021 4:07 AM
Mitch is a legit 7 feet tall with very long arms. Thus, there is a lot of area on his body to spread that 272 on. I think 265-275 is probably an ideal weight range for him to balance physical strength with quickness. He showed last season that he was finally strong enough to battle down low as far as rebounds and offensive putbacks and finishing around the basket. He probably needs to stay around 265-270 to maintain his quickness.

Agree. He’s a legit 7 footer so he has more room to put weight. Since he had foot injury prob meant working out cardio in pool( ha ha nice to be a pro athlete!) and weights. But we have to see if added size effects some of the things he did or even his foot

This guy has zero post moves and can't shoot beyond a dunk, and your excited about him adding weight, that's not easy on the knees. I remember KP bulking up in the off season prior to his injury, Amare too....keep in mind, He wasn't that quick to begin with.

His injury probably limited his development (another set back) so IDK what's going to become of him, I certainly don't view him as a future all star like some of you.

He has to put on some weight to avoid getting pushed around in the low post

I think Mitch’s career arc can be similar to Marcus Camby’s. Camby was a skinny guy who was perceived as an egg while he was here. Layden traded him away, he put on weight and went on to win DPOY I think at least once

Camby was a #2 overall pick, he was way better than mitch even as a rookie, by his 4th season he was a monster for us against the pacers..

I agree Camby had more talent coming into the league, but he wasn't way better as rookie. Mitch was a better shotblocker, rebounder and finisher at the rim. I'd say, just looking per 36 #s and basic analytics, Mitch had a more impressive rookie year.

Camby was 22 when he entered the league. I think they have some similarities - obviously Mitchell doesn't have the jump shot that Camby developed.

I think he can have a solid 10+ year career.

BRIGGS @ 7/9/2021 4:47 PM
I’m sure he will settle in around 255– that’s prob good weight. He prob put some lbs on during downtime. When your young weight can fluctuate fast
SupremeCommander @ 7/10/2021 12:37 PM
I don’t really give a shit about Mitch’s exact weight…

I just want him to look more solid. For example, anyone here ever try Muay Thai? The place I used to go when I was a young man had this fitness version….

I watched a class once. They basically lined up in twos and one would block, and the other would punch/kick as hard as they could. They walked up from 1 to 15 and then walked down 15 to 1. So of they kicked, they stood on one foot and then got thigh drive, then calf, but they would come back and kick with the calf. Holy fuck that was crazy and obviously everyone doing that looked solid as oak.. I would love for Knox and Mitch to do that

xblvdels3 @ 7/10/2021 6:25 PM
If we are just talking weight I’d like to see him at 250-260. Just to hold his ground more against the bigger/stronger centers.

Can he turn into Anthony Davis? because that would be great

Yea 😅 lol it would

reub @ 7/11/2021 8:34 AM
Can his feet and weak ankles tolerate the extra stress? That's my main concern.

Camby was perceived as a bust his first couple seasons in the nba. Ever wonder why all it took for Grunfeld to get him in a trade was an ancient Charles Oakley?

And I do think Mitch’s ceiling is about the same as Camby’s

You might want to visit Cambys range which he had from day one. Mitch is forbidden to to square up and take s shot. Way different offensive skills. The shot was not always pretty, but he had to be respected and thus created space.

I’m sure teams would love to reboot Bargnani again. He is Markkanen. Bargs was drafted a few years too soon and too high.

As for Mitch, I have no problem with his ambitions and curious if he was out of shape this past season leading to his injuries. That compounds things.
HIs frequent changing of agents is an a issue as he might over value himself. I cant speak to his work habits outside of what we read.
For sure will be interesting what we do with him. `
