they just gave Allen a 100 million deal when they drafted Mobley. Sexton meanwhile is twisting.that team is a mess right now. Even if i liked Sexton (and i'm generally negative seeing his defense as more megative than his offense is positive) i would only low ball for him at this point
Cavs and Kings are 2 teams i'll never understand. Like Kings having Fox and Haliburton and drafting a 3rd PG in Davion Mitchell. And Cavs investing their 3rd pick and then 100 mil in centers who aren't really capable of playing PF. They will start Mobley at PF but they are doing him a disservice there. He's a center.
Mobley doesn't have the physical chops to handle the beating at center yet. He's skilled enough and mobile enough to play the 4 but him at his best should be at the 5 (as is the case for Anthony Davis and Porzingis).
The Kings stink and needed to draft the best player available. Mitchell was a good bet to be that. Considering Haliburton's and Fox's length, Mitchell can be the 3rd guard off the bench and play with either. I don't see the problem with the pick, personally. Wouldn't be surprised if the Kings shopped Fox though. I don't think he fits what we do but maybe we could make an offer built around Mitchell Robinson, Obi Toppin, the Fournier contract and minimal picks later this season.
What would you define as minimal picks. 3? He's still relatively young and has had success in this league? Mitch is probably the most desirable trade piece the team can afford to lose, but Cleveland has no need for him. Maybe Quick and Obi, along with picks can get it done?
I was talking about D'Aaron Fox; not Sexton. I'd like to consider myself Sexton's biggest critic and prefer the Knicks look at other options if it came to giving up any assets for him. To be fair though, I could see how he'd "succeed" in a Thibodeou offense. Could always sign him if it came down to it.
I know. The question about the number of pick is in regard to Fox. Not quite a superstar, but on the cusp. How does that equate in terms of picks. Jrue Holiday package?

The Bucks basically encumbered all their picks for the next seven drafts to get Holiday, right? I couldn't imagine doing anything close to that for Fox. Max I'd do are two protected first round picks (including the one from DAL) and even then I'd be a bit uneasy because of the opportunity cost involved in doing so.

You think those picks will return a Fox or Sexton type talent?

We couldn't even move up to get Tre Murphy for that, but we will get Fox?

Fox>Sexton. I think first round picks are too dear for Sexton especially considering the flux of guard talent in the league. The best the Cavs can do with him is to leverage him to dump a bad contract (not Love).

What info do you have about us moving up for Tre Murphy? The only player I've heard linked to us, that went ahead of us, was Chris Duarte.
The only reason D'Aaron Fox might be available is because the Kings are becoming expensive and they already have two other talented lead guard. If that, and his growing discontent, weren't factors, Fox is the type of talent you try to keep. Collin Sexton on the other hand is nothing more than a glorified Reggie Jackson. Had Jackson not just had the playoffs he had, that would not have been considered anything close to a valuable ball player; though Thibs' system would make good use of Sexton. You don't give up real assets for that especially when the Cavs have little to no leverage when it comes to Sexton, the asset. He's one year from getting paid and has proven nothing beyond but a ballhog that doesn't win games.

That's why we don't have a legit starting PG (if the FO is thinking like you) The knicks have no leverage either because their assets are weak to Cleveland and Most FA don't want to sign here they want a quality VET and 1st rnd pick.
Are You can looking at young 23 yr old kid like he's a finish product, so far did he have the right VETS around him, or a solid coaching staff, or a winning culture.

If he did he might have actually had a breakthrough season similar to Randle and then would be out of our reach value-wise

If we had a "legit starting PG", where would that leave us? We're a middling team with or without an average level facilitator, IMO. So why surrender assets for a kid that hasn't shown he can contribute to winning? All he does is score the ball to the detriment of the offense and his teammates. You don't give up real assets for that. Personally, I think he's a mental midget, which is worsened by the fact that he's incredibly arrogant. You can't fix stupid (see JR Smith and Russell Westbrook), so I have no expectation that things will improve in that regard with age.
