I’m obsessively checking my phone to verify this trade will happen. I understand he has flaws but bottom line is he is 22 years old, scored 24.3, had a PER of 18.0 - yes I’ll bet on that

A watched pot never boils. Don't obsess over this rumor. For all we know it may just be a bunch of smoke or if legit this could drag on until draft night.

In my response I forgot about him. Yeah, resign Rose, draft a pg, train up IQ, and then hope Luca is the real deal. At the very least, we would have a group of PGs better than last years group without having to overpay for anyone.
Yup. I don't want to overpay anymore. Let's groom our guys. I have high hopes for Luka. Also, we can get another PG that can shoot the lights out in one of our picks. 19, 21 or 32.
Luca is playing Team USA right now. Not saying Luca won't contribute, but I'm confident in saying he's not the answer.
The only team that benefits from this leak is Cleland. So there is that

I know it's complicated, team aspects etc. but c'mon that has to be frightening and somewhat consistent with the notion of the Cavs sucking ass even if Sexton is hitting shots. And i still think he's a ball hogIt's not like we're seeing him as a guy to build a team around so much as we're hoping he can contribute with Randle and RJ. Price needs to be way lower. He is a rental and we may find after a year that he doesn't help winning and we don't want him long term
When making a list of reasons why the Cavs have been bad over the last several years, 3 coaches in 3 years and a young, poorly constructed roster among other things come up before we reach Sextons name. Also, if the Knicks pull the trigger on the deal, I highly doubt the Knicks view Sexton as a rental.
i agree there are a lot of reasons why CLevland has sucked but we must also keep in mind that the +/- certainly looks like he's giving up more than he gets. He's shooting 50+% and close to 40% from 3. can't expect huge improvement there. so the issue has to be his D and what do we expect from there? Guy is looking for a max so he had all the incentive in the world to be great at both ends, but looks one dimensional on paper. Offense is tantalizing but I'd be worried.

weird because I was just looking at both player's per36 and Sexton has high PPG, FTs, Assists, FG%.. like most everythingIQ is great. So far doesnt look like a PG tho... that being said I would be pretty happy with a Sexton/RJ/IQ rotation at the 1/2
You think those differences justify a contract at 10 times the price?

Or Sexton and his agent.

This is the way a team strikes gold. Basically you hope he’s like a Kyle Lowry who needs the right environment (or someplace just not Cleveland) to become a star. Maybe thibs can replicate some Rose with Sexton.

Didn't really care enough about Cleveland this year outside of the Knicks and Nets games, but I'm assuming Sexton guarded the opposing two, Garland the point and Okoro got whoever the best wing was. Can't read too much into +- when Sexton was playing the most minutes on the poorly constructed roster.
If we didn’t have to extend him to max contract, I’d be more interested.
I like Sexton, but not for assets and a big contract.

Thats a frickin steal if thats the cost. You have to do it. If it doesn't work out sign and trade him. 24ppg 22 year olds aren't exactly easy to come by. Yeah its a risk but Devin Booker and Trae Young aren't walking through the door
I don't expect anything to happen with Sexton for days. Will be closer to the draft.

When was the last time the knicks had a pg that avg 20+ points?

Don't see as Sexton as a point guard, but point taken. He would elevate shot creation in the backcourt. Time would tell if he answers playmaking needs.
I like the deal. Depends what on what we give up. He is still on his Rookie contract and we would have control over it along with 50m in cap and picks.
This would be a great trade for both teams!! Cleveland was interested in Toppin last draft.

How do we know he will require a max extension? All players and agents say things like this and maybe he just wants out of Cleveland and this is his way to force his hand. Seeing how Rose was his agent and sexton is still CAA, I would think they can work out something that works for both parties without an issue.
Knox Toppin pick 19 is fair for sexton.
I’d easily do that — if it gets into all 3 picks and pick swaps. Count me out. I’ll do fair—- and we can probably take salary off their hands for this year
Man Knox was taken one pick after Sexton. So many good players in that draft. How did we end up with shitty Knox?
Could take princes contract off their hands

Makes a lot of sense both ways, especially if the Cavs end up drafting Green and not Mobley.
