Don't see us trading up in the draft now (if the Kings were giving up their pick cheaply, the Griz would have gone for that rather than this costly pelicans deal. Lowry likely to either Miami or Pelicans. Lonzo to either the Bulls or staying with the pelicans. Cp3 likely staying with the suns.

Probably we'll end up taking on DJ Augustin and a couple of other low key moves!

I think you are looking at it wrong. This move signals Lowry is off the market but Hart and Ball are likely being released with no safety net. CHA would need to release Monk and likely Graham to sign Lonzo, CHI would need to renounce Lauri and Thad Young.

Since Knicks, SAS, and OKC are only teams with easy cap space, ideally the FA market gets flooded by guys released without cap holds. That creates the best situation for the Knicks to squeeze value contracts.

Completely agree. This is a good thing for the Knicks. Not sure why people assume Lowry wants to go to New Orleans though. Who wants to play there ? Harder conference to compete in, players not on his timeline, not a great market or place to play.

Lowry seems to be after money and years (I read 3 years $90mil)- NO are desperate enough to offer that, probably so are the Heat. I think we only want to offer him a one year deal at the highest possible amount.

Bulls are also desperate and make a lot of sense for Lonzo- they can do a sign and trade with NO, but would have no problem renouncing Lauri and thad Young.

I sincerely hope that we have no intention of entering into that bidding war because:

1. Regardless of last season score, we are not "one player away"
2. Even if we are, that player is certainly not Lowry

As I have already written, it is hard to shake off the impression that Lowry will experience a serious drop in quality and good luck to the one who gives him something in $ 90M/3Y range. The Pelicans got rid of Bledsoe and Adams to get room for that, and I think in less than a year that particular contract is going to be very, very bad.

Not to mention that they are not "one player away" either. But they of course want to show Zion that they are a "serious team" that can bring in “strong names”.

Lowry keeps the team in the mix for the 4 seed. Next year we are probably a play in team as is

But certainly a mid level bomb to start the action

If it weren't for their drafting record I'd say it looks poor for the Griz (and bad in a way for the pelicans in the sense that they gave Adams that contract for no good reason), but if they're so sure of a player they're paying that price to move up, they must be good-wonder who it turns out to be?

Great deal for Memphis. Only question is what it costs to push Bledsoe along. Or if they can just bury him at the end of the bench.

My only question is if they continue to bring JJJ off the bench.

Elf and Rose will both be back

I’m nauseous

I wouldn't mind bring Rose and Elf back, but if that is all we do as far as the PG position, then yea, pretty horrible.

I'd love to see him end up in LA. I think he fits well in a crunch time 5 of Bledsoe/ KCP/ LBJ/ Davis/ Gasol. Trez will likely opt in, if he does his 9 million expiring could work for MEM. If I am LA I try to attach THT for some future asset.

Elf won't be back. I don't know why you keep repeating that

I'd love to see Bledsoe in LA also. I think his defense is so horrendously bad, I will enjoy watching LBJ's misery as they blow games. Seriously -- my #1 offseason plan for the Knicks is to not end up with Bledsoe.

I would have thought the return for Jonas V would be higher, but I can see why both teams did the trade.

I don’t want either one back next season

That situation would reek of Ray Felton 2013-2014

I’m gonna laugh hysterically when he’s our starting pg next November

Rose back to Chicago. Elf is cooked here.

Knicks can hold onto Rose's 9 million hold and then resign him for two years at 13 million per. I don't know if either side can do better in FA, so I think if Rose doesnt come back the Knicks are making a play Lowry and DeRozan.

As for that, we can sign him right away if that's the plan. Not that we’re going to fill the cap with free agents. It is more a matter of plans and desires, both ours and his.

I’d say Rose likes it here in this role. But if we bring in PG and SG who will get “Thibs” minutes (35+), I’m not sure he’s interested in 12-13 minutes per game in trash time.
