One of the more interesting drafts I've seen for the Knicks in terms of wheeling and dealing.

WHY WOULD YOU TRADE FOR A PICK THAT COULD AT BEST BE EQUAL BUT OTHERWISE WORSE? What’s the point?
Chandler@ 7/29/2021 11:47 PM
That future first will be traded. We have like three firsts next year?
VDesai@ 7/29/2021 11:48 PM
All things considered, the price was reasonable. Per ESPN's Bobby Marks, the Hornets' first-rounder will be top-18 protected next year, top-16 protected in 2023 and then lottery-protected in 2024 and 2025 before converting into a pair of future second-rounders if not conveyed by that point. So the highest this pick can be (No. 15) is just four spots better -- not much compared to the usual premium teams pay when trading future picks for current ones.

They did do similar last year, manipulating around to get Quickley. A sign of things to come!

Yeah, it's clear their gearing up for a move.
KnickDanger@ 7/29/2021 11:49 PM
Will I make it to 58?

so basically it, more or less, feels like a do over 1st get because their guy was off the board.

Yeah. Was too good to be true to not be lottery pick protected.
Oh well.
Crap trade imo.

A second rounder would’ve made this look better, but it is what it is.

No! I can barely tune in at the pace they play now.

Agreed. Didn't know that it was that protected.
