Only reason I can think of is this: there wasn't a trade to be made or a player the Knicks really loved with this year's pick so rather than use the pick now they kept it as an asset to be used if a trade possibility opens up in the next year. Can't really knock that strategically.

How so? We came out of it with who we would have drafted anyway and we pay them less money since they were picked later than they would have. Plus more assets for a trade. I am not understanding why people are down on this trade.
