Knicks · Quentin Grimes- I just gotta say we got the steal of the draft again (page 1)

Philc1 @ 7/29/2021 10:58 PM
This dude KILLED it at the nba draft combine scrimmages. Shot over 40% from 3 in college for his career. Already has an nba body so no waiting 3-4 years for him to develop physically and mentally.

Been reading scouting reports. They all knock his inability to create his own shot. Watch the tape he seems more than capable of creating his own shot, and has good dribble and handles. Should be a rotation guy from day 1

From JETNATION?!?!

DWC here my dude!!!

I liked him as one of the wings we could take. More than 100 3's made at a 40 pct clip. Well over 3 triples per game. We need that badly. And he plays hard at both ends.

This guy was under my radar but like what I'm reading about him now. From the NY Post:

"Grimes also is one of just two NCAA players who ranked in the top 10 in offensive and defensive rating, and scouts deem him as NBA ready."

Thnx for this post I'm so disheartened about passing on Sharife Cooper and I know nothing about Grimes but looks like we got ourselves a two way player at least (Grimes).

Both he and McBride look like solid physical specimens.

Saw the clips of McBride playing Cunningham on D, and was impressed.

Athletically, the guy does not do it for me. But he has all the intangibles. You hope his dominance at the draft combine carries over to his pro performance. He was a good pick at 25, but we could have Keon Johnson or Josh Christopher who are both guys with more upside. Hopefully, the Knicks know what they are doing.

Draft is a broken event on tv with all the leaks and incomplete trades. Guys putting on hats for teams not going to.

Few teams live up to the hype of a draft day. Every year its the same. Most of the time we walk away frustrated. I stopped watching it as everything you need to know happens after anyway.
I appreciate the effort by fans. Briggs seemed to spend hours on “takes” and perhaps its all part of the enjoyment.
We are not privy to the inner thoughts of the organization so we don’t know if they whiffed on some things they tried to do and then fell back? Thats OK. Have a plan. If you can’t get what you want, then fall back. Taking players you really don’t want is not a good idea.
It all gets sorted on the court, not media letter grades.

Here is a video of him getting picked.

Why don't you post on JN anymore my dude?

I was worried about you forreal because you not only posted about our Knicks almost every day within our official 2020-2021 NY Knicks Thread throughout the entire season (begining on draft night) but then you completely disappeared and VANISHED like 1 week before our playoffs began.

I was legit worried about you man because life is well, short and I was asking mods if they've heard anything about you and got nothing. I tagged you in our official 2021-2022 NY Knicks thread and I hope you pop up in order to show the world YOU'RE ALIVEEEE hah but nah we were all asking about you Phil good to see you here on UK though..

The fatuous hot takes and immediate post-draft “grades”….we live in the ADD clickbait era. What were the grades for the Knicks and Mavs right after the Putzingis trade again?

Agree 100%. To me the big knock on Grimes wasn't so much that he couldn't create his own shot it was that he was not an elite athlete, which can really lower your ceiling in the NBA. K.Johnson is the opposite. Really raw but EXTREMELY athletic with immense upside. I thought he would have been a nice pickup (assuming the Knicks target a starting PG in FA). I LOVE Johnson's defense, reminds me of Shump early on in his career before he got the injury bug.

I like who the Knicks ended up with. I like Grimes and McBride. I get that they got an extra 1st rounder for moving down. That could end up being huge. However, I was excited at the thought of K.Johnson and potentially Jalen Johnson.

KnickDanger @ 7/30/2021 3:09 PM
Ya know, time was I would have wanted Jalen Johnson. High skill underachiever with questionable motivation. Perhaps he'll find his way. In the meantime it seems we got a couple of hustling hard workers ready to go. I like that.
