Knicks · Knicks considered resetting with Suggs (page 1)

Intriguing. The Knicks saw something others here knew. Franchise altering player, maybe? But the cost is interesting because they actually thought about sending RJ, another younger player (Obi probably) and lots of picks for him. Would’ve been weird, considering RJ is a cornerstone and a big part of our turnaround last year, but might Suggs be the elusive franchise player that again got away?

Thoughts?

That is a tough one. RJ can be a #2 in time, perhaps Obi can on another team as well, but most likely just a solid piece.
Suggs, from what I've heard can be a #1, so I guess management weighed that and walked away.
We have to see what happens in FA to really know. Tic Tok

Hard to put much stock in this. The Knicks are gonna take every phone call. Im sure they scouted Suggs and maybe felt like he was the best player in the draft and a franchise PG. So you take a call and see the cost. Once you hear the cost, maybe you counter, maybe you don't. It doesnt necessarily mean it got serious. To me its not surprising to think someone in the org might have thought Suggs was a franchise type talent - aside from having all the skills, he is a winner, a leader and is clutch.

I think the offer of RJ is just speculation. They could have offered a mountain of future draft picks and quickley and/Toppin just the same.

I thought jalen Suggs was the best player in the draft.
If the price was achievable I would’ve considered it. It might’ve set us back for a year but he’s a championship caliber piece imho.
