Knicks · Next Shoe to Drop? (page 1)

there's always fallout from the draft. Thoughts and predictions?

Detroit now has to figure out what to do with Killian Hayes
Cleveland are they going to pay J.Allen, now?
Houston has several SGs
if there were any doubt before, none now: Schroeder's days in LA are over
sacramento now has fox, halliburton and mitchell. something has got to give there

seems like we should be talking to the Kings

See if we can get Schroeder for the next Mavs pick or the future Charlotte pick we got

Schroder is a free agent, so no need for picks, only cap space, which we have more than enough.

But I'm not sure he's the PG the Thibs want.

Two things seem pretty clear to me from the way the draft went down.

1. The Knicks will be looking for a veteran PG.
2. The Kicks will be looking for a veteran SF.

Possibly via trade but almost certainly via FA. So not much has changed since before the draft.

None of the guys they drafted can be relied on to step right in and be starters or even solid contributors. Honestly, I think McBride has the biggest chance to contribute as a defensive minded PG off the bench- a bit like Marcus Smart. Also Thibs apparently loves him. Rokas is an 'X' factor. He seems like a guy who has good size and can do it all, so if given the opportunity he could contribute...but there is a good chance the Knicks will stash him overseas and let him develop.

So who do they go after in FA or via trade? I think some of the same names we have heard over and over, ad nauseum.

I prefer Reggie Jackson or Spencer Dinwiddie

Drafting Grimes means we only need one of Burks or Bullock back

This is why they have longest playoff drought in the NBA

A rookie selected in the late-20s, will not walk-on and take minutes from established veterans for an aspiring playoff team. Not when said team has $50 million to blow and no one to really spend it on.

Austin Rivers begs to differ. Did you watch last season when IQ (drafted in the late-20s) literally walked on and took Austin Rivers' minutes?

I like D'Aaron Fox but think he'd be a poor fit with Randle and Barrett. It's a shame because I think he's the type of player that could make a leap in the right system and likely available. I really like Killian Hayes too but think it might be a bit too pricey to get him. I'd be willing to pony-up Obi Toppin but can't see why anyone would value him at his age and profile.

He’s not a typical rookie he’s 21, played 3 years of college, already has an nba body and is as good if not a better 3 point shooter than Bullock/Burks

Kings are a dysfunctional mess. They’re the Minnesota Timberwolves without Silver rigging the draft for them every 5 years
