I have a feeling the knicks will go after a veteran PG, CP3 if he is available or Lowrey or Conley. I have a hunch Deuce is the long term answer at the starting point guard spot. He just needs 2-3 years to learn under a veteran point before taking over the starting pg spot. I like Deuces football background, he is a tough player with a mean streak with a big chip on his shoulders.
Getting a very good veteran PG will keep the knicks competitive and will give Duece a reliable mentor. I think a great fit will be signing Lowrey, i see huge similarities in the games of Lowrey and Deuce.
Graham is my pick if we can get him at a reasonable price. CP3 and Lowry are not longterm solutions and Lonzo is probably going to cost more than he is worth. A guy like Graham or Cameron Payne would probably come here on a reasonable deal just for the chance to start. That being said, while I would prefer adding Graham or Payne, I am fine with running it back with a resigned Rose IF Thibbs can stick with limiting Rose to about 25 minutes a game. I like the additions of Luca and McBride. I would be fine with saving the cap space and rolling with what we have.
cp3 but that is a pipe dream.realistically i like sexton.
Knicks seem to have a gameplan and the media is still guessing.
I think it’s true they are amassing assets for a move, I’m just not sure that move will happen this offseason. Which makes me think they might keep their cap space this offseason, impacting who they can get.
I would like Lonzo and the situation in NO with them wanting Lowry might help us. But will we bite if the opportunity arrives? There WILL be pressure to get a veteran PG starter considering the expectation should be to improve from last season and not taking any step back.

No.
Because I don't believe any of us Knicks fans want to see Derrick Rose as our starting PG next year because imo he's no longer starting quality and is much better while being utilized as a veteran leader of a sparkplug off the bench.
(PS: I wish I knew how to edit the poll in order to include D-Rose and Graham, but unfortunately I don't know how).
Rose is what he is now. 15-20 quality minutes off the bench as a combo guard. He can’t play full time minutes anymore the playoffs showed that

CP3 will stay with Phoenix.
Think only people that like Lonzo are the ones that have not seen him play for an extended period of time.
A.) I don't think he's staying in Phoenix because his GM mentioned bringing him back only if he doesn't opt out (said nothing about matching an offer and CP3 is definitely going to opt out in order to test FA).
B.) I've watched Lonzo Ball since dating back to his UCLA days where he dropped over 270 assists during his Freshman season and have watched a lot of Lonzo Ball games over the previous two years because I always order NBA league pass every year and love to watch Zion Williamson (on nights the Knicks don't play) and Lonzo Ball is just so much for for me as a basketball fan. His Court Vision is A+, his passing ability is sick, he can drain the 3PT shot and he's A+ exciting when on the fast break. Also one of the best PGs at all 3 of Rebounding, Stealing and blocking shots.
Even in 2019 without Zion Williamson for much of the season this kid averaged 7 assists and 6 rebounds per game and shot .378% from 3 and if became a Knicks PG he'd ignite MSG because he'll be surrounded by multiple ballers in Immanuel Quickley, R.J. Barrett, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson (+ our Rookie shooters).
And if you think Mitchell Robinson is exciting now? Just watch how exciting he'd become under Lonzo Ball @ PG especially once on a fast break.
And imo Lonzo Ball is the perfect pass first PG who could unlock🔓 Obi Toppin's offensive excitement.
Imo the only fans who wouldn't want Lonzo Ball are the one's who really haven't watched him all that often...
I agree. I'm not sure why many fans feel like Lonzo is a bad move or too expensive or a bad investment or unlikely to come here or not the type of player the Knicks want right now. He seems to be a perfect fit in every way. He actually wants to come here and the Knicks are in great position to get him.
Lonzo Ball will be the glue of this team allowing Randle, RJ and Mitch to truly shine and he wont hurt us on the defensive side of the ball. The Knicks will easily find the money to add role player shooters so they can fill out a well rounded roster. I don't know if they would be able to add Robinson or Oubre Jr. but even a guy like McDermott or Barton in that group would go a long way.
If I was the Knicks I would try to make a move for Lillard without giving up RJ or Randle, and go all in on Lonzo as plan B.
We need to get out of this mentality where we think we have the pick of all the best FA's and then get upset when we don't sign them- we don't! At the moment there are two hurdles- who actually wants to come here (we aren't and never will be be top of all FAs list, they have other preferences), and how much we're willing to pay (we seem set on saving money for 2022 and avoiding contracts that are too big or too long). That leaves us with not many options to chose from, because if a player is being offered lower salary numbers that don't jeopardize 2022, they can get those for the MLE and pay for a contender.
Likely the best we can do is D Graham.

Let's hope This and Rose have changed people's opinions. Nets also sucked for a while before last summer.
All the smoke seems to indicate:
Ball to bulls
CP3 staying at suns
Dinwiddie to Wiz
Conley staying at Jazz
Lowry under high demand, Heat favorites
Seems to leave:
Dragic (if the heat get Lowry) Miami picked up option, likely to trade to the Craptors
Graham Hornets say they want to keep him, so likely can’t be had for cheap
Kemba Walker trade
Sexton via trade
Cam Payne
Reggie Jackson
maybe Brogdon via trade
You should re-do the poll with those as the options!
Why would Ball want the Bulls over us, assuming we’re interested in him? It should be the same reasons free agents never looked at us before when we were perennial losers with a revolving roster and constant turn over of coaches.
If the money is the same or similar, I rationally should think our situation is 100x better.

Sounds like he has a great relationship with Randle too. Who knows, Thibs coaching style isn't for everyone (and probably a good litmus test for us).
I don’t care who we bring in as long as the contract stays of value and the player can be traded down the road.
Albatross contracts are killers. We are learning that CP3 and Westbrook maintain value as long as the health stayed. Westbrooks contract is nuts but it makes sense for LA. They will need shooters thought.
Im kinda disappointed with the idea that the FO is targeting Schroder, for me he is just a better scoring Payton with lesser defense.i would rather take Dragic over him to mentor Luca and Deuce. The knicks still font have a starting SF target, i guess they will keep RJ at 3 and fournier at the 2.
How are you guys feeling about a starting 5 of:
Mitch
Randle
Rj
Fournier
Schroder
What bugs me is that Fournier is just a bench player on a good nba team. I would rather go after Norman Powell or Gary Trent Jr. I think that s play-in roster. Not too excited with that. I would rather give the 20M Schroder is asking to Lonzo. Unfortunately i think the Bulls might already have a head start on him.

Ball is going to whatever team pays him. His dad absolutely wants him in NY but Chicago is also a big market
A good but not great pg who will accept a large 1 year contract test drive
A good small forward
A good backup center (vet)
The end … 😅😂

Better fit for him, I think- Thibs tends to prefer scoring, penetrating PG's

I was hoping the Wiz would send Bertans plus filler to the Lakers in a sign and trade for Schroeder (mainly so we wouldn't be able to go after Schroeder!)
I really like Lowry as the prize PG the Knicks get this offseason. Lonzo is an unlikely option at this point, the knicks think he was a good fit with the team during the trade deadline but not anymore. The most likely outcome is Lowry will sign with a contender, not the knicks. Nunn and Payne will be the next player i want them to target. If no other choice, will Dragic still be good for 20min/game? Luca and Deuce can share the remaining PG minutes.
I don't understand the knicks interest with Schroder, the made a point to draft high character rookies the past 2 drafts then will be interested in a player thats not get along well with other players in the team, in the Lakers and even the hawks. We have seen Payton's body language last season, they want to possibly deal with a player like that all over again? Schroder seems to have questions about his attitude. I would rather stay clear of that.

No Lowry, or Dragic, unless you try to get Dragic from the Raptors now:
