Knicks · Lots of chatter around Evan Fournier (page 3)

You're hiding that Buddy pain pretty wellI'd be fine with $55M. $20M for four years seems excessive. I'm not saying he's trash, but he ain't no young up and commer with upside.
No upside, but 28 and seems committed to defense. Not a grand slam. But the contract needs to make sense. You would be adding +10 points from the same minutes but taking some shots from Randle/Barrett. Might open up the floor a bit for Barrett. I like Oubre more, but Oubre is asking for more on what he might be but hasn’t become yet. You would have to hope that he fixes his shot.
I dont expect Randle part II (that seems unreasonable) but I would like to try!
I agree. That’s why I prefer Oubre. It’s just what cost. If Oubre wants to get paid for the player he is supposed to be instead of the player he is. That said, Oubre has Randle-like upside and could be on an all NBA defense squad with his physical skills and attributes.
In my head it’s the same argument for Devonte Graham (or Lonzo Ball, even) over Schroder.
We may end up with Schroder and Fournier. Which is still an offense upgrade over what we had in Payton and Bullock in the starting lineup. If you don’t see the home run pitch, it’s not horrible to take a walk.
TheGame wrote:Fournier is a solid scorer. He is better than Burkes and Bullock, which is what we want, an upgrade. I would rather pay him $17.5 mil per year, but you got to pay to play. Hopefully, it is 3 year deal with a team option for the third year.
Yes he’s much better than both of them. The goal should be to upgrade the team and that’s what he would do. The money needs to be spent. It can only be rolled over for so long.

This is my logic here. Would be great if Chris Paul and Kawhi (with a return at half season) wanted to come here and play for the dollars we have to spend. I don’t see that happening. So, instead, you look to improve the team. See what happens during the season.

I think I'd rather sign Cam Payne and roll it over in two seasons.

Cam Payne is my sleeper FA. You get him for $10 mil per year for 2-3 years, you resign Rose to play backup again on maybe a one year overpay deal, and now you have Luca and McBride fighting for third PG. Roll with that and see where it takes us, but worst case scenario, you still have cap flexibility.

I’m glad we avoided him. He struggled until he got into an ideal situation behind a hall of famer. That always makes me nervous giving a guy like that a major role.

That's just a great deal for PHO too, they took a chance on him and I think both teams got rewarded

Not too late. We've seen Perry knockdown "agreements" in the past. Maybe Cam has family in the East Coast 😉

You think these guys are trade fodder? I'm stunned we spent this much cap space without adding a PG. This same team minus Rose, plus Fournier will be lucky to avoid the play in game. Hawks and Heat will finish ahead us next season

Issue is he is not very good from the range that is now the biggest difference in today's NBA. So why pay $20m plus for him?
As for Fournier, agree that he is inconsistent at times. Also agree that he is not worth $10m more than Bullock and definitely not $10m more than Burke. Still in the mindset that Burks and Bullock on team friendly deals are the best option. I would rather the Knicks save the $20m and use it towards a true difference maker.
I personally would like to spend the cap space on a player that helps us win games and maybe even something to build on. All this guy does is demand 30 mins a night for this price tag. I am praying this is just rumor
Not different rules but a different game. Post players and mid range players are not the ones having major impacts in playoffs. Unless they are freaks of nature like Giannis. Not questioning if DeMar is a good player. Just questioning if that style of play is the one you want for your BEST player.
Think it's a mute point as it seems like we are eating up cap faster than a fat chick eats cake.
