do we know what he gave up in his buyout? I usually thought any team that signs a player coming out of the buyout is just making up the difference, and why players are usually signed for vet min #s.
This does take the sting out of what I thought was an underwhelming off season.
Still, we have 2 PGs that are over 30 with a tone of mileage on their bodies with histories of being injured.

That lineup is a definite improvement over last year. What an impressive offseason for LR and the front office. Kharma may be finally turning for NYK. Slow and steady wins the race.
Can Kemba guard Trae Young?

I think if he clears waivers then we should be able to sign him for the vet min.

Can Trae guard Kemba? Same with Fournier. They may not have the same defense as Bullock, but they are definitely an offensive upgrade over whoever we had on Trae. Even if it's someone who can keep up with Traes scoring, that also helps. We didn't have neither last year. Couldn't guard him and couldn't match his scoring and playmaking. Now Trae has to actually play defense, when we play ATL. Randle, RJ and Mitch should have more open lanes and pick and roll space. I think Kemba / Fournier will be a huge impact to Mitch and Noel offensive production this season.

That same cheseburger you grab from a fastfood joint looks a whole lot better off the dollar menu than it does from Gordon Ramsey's restaurant for $20.
If it is the exact same cheeseburger that was about to be served at Gordon Ramsey, but is now being re-heated and served a week later? There is a reason why Kemba costs three times less now. If he is half of what he used to be, is he that much better than Elf? Halve Kemba's stats from the last couple of years and you get Elf's stats. With better shooting, but worse defense.
Anyway, Kemba is probably the best addition out of all the options we have had this off-season. Though I would have still liked for us to take a flyer on Dipo for cheap.

Hey Martin my dude thanks for giving me another opportunity. My draft night disappointment was due to missing out on some of my favorite PGs specifically Lonzo Ball.
However this 4x All-Star Kemba Walker addition has me just as EXCITED as I was DISAPPOINTED on FA day #1!
Kemba Walker? A New York Knicks starting PG???!? Are you kidding me?!? Talk about Left Field!!
This is a perfect illustration of NYC hoops fans...quick to condemn, followed by ecstatic at the emerging developments. We're an impatient bunch. Good thing is, Leon don't pay attention to our BS.
Let's GO Knicks!!!!!!!

I think our Front office did pay attention to our frustration of not having an All-Star PG.

Prob the difference he got from the Knicks

Atlanta may be losing Lou Williams. That will hurt them. Hopefully Collins is disgruntled too. He’s not making much more than Danilo.
Celts are weaker
76er have Simmons drama.
We,ll be in the thick of things

As a person who really wanted Lonzo I can still pivot and also be happy with the direction we went. Both Kemba and Rose have some injury concerns but guess what? We have IQ, McBride and Luca to cover that. My only concern now is our center position. If we have 2 injuries to bigs like last year and Sims is not ready to fill in we might have problems. Taj did fill in during that period very well so it might not be that big of an issue.

If you told me at after the Knicks exited the 1st round of the playoffs that the FO will only just add a couple of rookies through the draft and add just 2 players in free agency and will call it a summer, i would be upset.
But the gains this roster will get by replacing Bullock with Fournier and showing Payton the door to make space for Kemba is just unbelievable! Im ashamed i started to loose faith in the FO. Im amazed at the patience and composure of thes FO. Good job Leon! Lets go knicks!
NYKMentality@ 8/4/2021 1:03 PM
KEMBA WALKER only played 1 game against Atlanta last year and not only did he beat them.
Atlanta doesn't beat us with both Kemna Walker and Mitchell Robinson.

I dunno. This board is prone to hyperbole. But a player at $40mm + trade assets (as you proposed) is different than $8mm of cap space. If you liked him at 40mm, why aren’t you happier now?
Deep down we all know that Brad Steven’s commitment to Kemba was a reason they faltered last season. He wasn’t his full self last year. And we are hoping that this year’s version is a bit healthier and a step quicker.
The roster was missing a PG that can penetrate the paint. Kemba will help there. We are still missing a Center that can contribute on offense.
There may be a move still coming to address that. I think that is the reason why you see them asking about Myles Turner.
I was a loudly outspoken critic of Kanter when he was he was here at 20mm per, but he might make a nice addition to the roster now if we end up needing some offense from the center position. If we freed up a roster spot via trade, he would be a decent use of the Room exception. Not sure what other offense oriented centers are out there.
