4x All-Star (2016-2017-2018-2019). The one who led Boston during 2019-2020 to the Eastern Conference Finals while destroying and sweeping Philadelphia, destroying Toronto in 7 and the same one who's a TRAE YOUNG KILLER @ 4-1 (.800%) against him.
His name is....
KEMBA WALKER!
Just don't see Kemba getting a ton of minutes with his (severely) arthritic knee. But maybe he takes Elfrid's starter 8 - 10 minute slot with Rose coming off the bench. But barring injury I definitely see Rose with the majority of minutes. After that it seems like it's up for grabs.
Kemba starts...no question
If Kemba's knee is as bad as they say, then he and Rose are perfect for each other, because neither one will be able to manage a full NBA workload.
I think the more interesting question is what does the lineup look like with a minute to go in a game.. I would assume Rose closes, but would Kemba also play then? Does he sit?

They're both defensive liabilities. I guess you go with whoever has the hottest hand. I don't think you can eff with a Rose/Kemba backcourt in the closing minutes of a tight game.

24 mpg each. Ride the hot hand by the game. Sprinkle in some Quickley and then some McBride for defense.
I want Kemba to start but got a bad feeling Rose is the starting pg at least half the year

Quickley needs to work on his pg skills this offseason. He might be the healthiest and best pg on the roster
I voted Kemba, but hope we’re not counting on these two to last the whole season. Not with Thibs at the helm.
I think we can count on Rose for maybe 60 games, 28 mins per - that works out to 40% of the available PG minutes - and then Walker is likely the same- at least he only played about 40% of the available minutes at PG for the celtics last year.
So - figure you have at least 20-30% of our team PG minutes that require someone outside of Rose/Walker to play.
We just have to hope they are both not hurt at the same time.
Burks is clearly your emergency PG. IQ likely one player we'll give some time to and then McBride if he makes the adjustment.
Vildoza and McBride will get more minutes than people think. We have 2 former all stars playing point for us. Unfortunately there will be stretches of 10-15 games through the season where only 1 is available. So minutes must be managed effectively.
If rose and kemba playing time will be sporadic throughout the season it’s important we use them the hardest the first 15 games to get out to a fast start before they start breaking down. We need to start the seasons with plenty of wins
If grimes defense and shot looks legitimate in practice he should be penciled in for certain games instead of Fournier..
It’s a long season guys. Not a sprint.

If either one of them is getting significant minutes that’s a problem
Walker will start. But if he starts turning the ball over and proving to be a liability on defense Thibs will quickly hand the starting job over to Rose. Thats my guess. I really dont see Quick taking over backup PG duties as much as people think now that we have Rose and Walker with McBride waiting in the wings.
I voted Kemba and I think he should start if healthy because he has never been a bench player and should not start now. Kemba is also a little less injury-prone than D Rose at this point in time.
