Knicks · Yes To Jericho Sims (page 1)

Wait, what?

A 6’10, 250 pound gazelle who needs to watch for hitting his head on the rim?
Slide Taj Gibson to the four/ assistant coach and Jumpman Sims can cameo behind Robinson and Noel.

Life am good.

I really liked the moves I saw from him. He has some quick feet on D, goes straight up for blocks and is actually pretty good when he switches on D. On offense is where I was really surprised. Dunkin on people is fine and all but this dude has some nice footwork in the paint he can actually pivot and is not limited to only putbacks. But you know what was a real eye opener? It was the skyhook and the floater. This kid is going to surprise!!!
Knixkik @ 8/9/2021 9:52 AM
It reminded me of when we saw Mitchell Robinson in summer league and realized we have something. I won’t rush the development and he is fine on a 2-way deal this year but looking forward to him developing into a nice backup center.
franco12 @ 8/9/2021 10:45 AM
is it wrong of me to want to see us fire Thibs and hire MDA?

I'd love to see Robinson and Sims out there with maybe Walker and Rose and RJ and just have them fast break all game long with lob passes and alley oops!

Nah. It’s just irrelevant, inconsistent, illogical and ain’t gonna happen.

This is why you don’t sign guys like Mitch to big deals off reckless

I just checked the calendar - the year still matches the one printed on Thibs' Coach of the Year trophy.

So yes, it is wrong.

Well, mitch deserved that contract and outperformed. He will get paid 95 to 115 million over 5 years, I think, by the Knicks, or 85/4 by another team, if not more. Let's see if Nerlens sets Mitch's market lower. Let's see how Mitch comes back from injury and if he stays healthy this season.

Let’s see the kid do it with the Varsity, if so Mitch can be expendable, but one game is not a career yet. Knox showed us to taper expectations!

It's actually beyond wrong...

Exactly..

The knicks have 3 centers who have the exact same game.

This goes back to what I've been saying about the center position, there a dime a dozen when you have limited skills. Now if you have skills like KAT, Jokic, AD, that sht isn't easy to replace.

Simmms shot 52% from the line in college. Signed a 2 way deal, he’ll be in the Gleague.

This ain’t college and his college stats don’t matter.

I was expecting zero from this kid but he has been a very nice surprise.

What has stood out and gives me optimism is…

- he has great play strength (he just plays thru or bounces off people).
- he seems to have a clue offensively — meaning on his rebounds & a few of his post/lob catches he has either taken a second to view the floor or he has come down with pass gathered and made a more certain dunk attempt
- also offensively he has shown some ability to put the ball down and not look like it was a grenade. Plus he has also made some clean dribble hand offs and kick outs out of the post (one left-handed that was nice.
- sets a solid screen and obviously is elite going for lob in the air
- his defensive position & boxing out has been mostly solid

What I’m not sure about is will he be a big time shot blocker.

I can't tell if you guys are talking about Sims or Simms. This guy adds a third mmm and I am all kinds of confused. Pretty sure its Sims you are referencing.

We have both of these guys on our team:
Aamir Simms
Jericho Sims

KnickDanger @ 8/10/2021 4:56 PM
They won't get past the Wall of Jericho....

Mitch has to have a healthy season and show some new ways to contribute, or I will be surprised if the Knicks offer him a $20M/year type of contract. I think the Noel contract is a sign that Robinson is not going to get the kind of money you are suggesting, despite his ability to do certain things on the court which many players cannot do.
