I was wondering, is he really related to Kevin Bacon?
I think you are getting your Bacons mixed up
Whom do I have mixed up? I also know of a Roger Bacon. A very smart man. Be he died a very very long time ago. Back in the 13th century. Is Dwayne his descendant?

I would have gone with "Bacon Bits" and just posted snippets of news about him.

There was also Francis Bacon, the English politician and scientist from the 16th and 17th centuries.
I tried, but could find nothing about his basketball skills, though I expect his scientific background would've led him to develop a jump shot with a good arc.
My gut feeling is that neither of the Bacons is an ancestor of our guy.

I appreciate the effort. Nothing better than wakin' to find Bacon on the table. Deep bench Bacon is better than no bacon at all 🥓
So no Bacon? Is bacon on the side in case we cut someone? The roster is set at 15. Luka is the only non guaranteed contract.

Think you just answered your own question

Think you can have 20 players on the roster going into training camp, so we have a while before we decide whether to keep Bacon, Luka or trade Knox or something
Sims got a 2 way. He likely in Gleague. With Bacon Knox has another hurdle to climb if both are 3’s.
We do have a bit of leeway in the depth chart to call Knox a 4 if that is his path. At 6’9 and broad shoulders he can grow into that. Will it be as a Knick? Maybe. If Randle or Obi need time off he steps in??
Randle/Obi/Knox
Mitch/Noel/2-way Simms
RJ/Burks/Bacon
Fornier/IQ/Vildoza(team option)Grimes
Kemba/DRose/Vildoza(team option)/McBride
McBride or Grimes could be Gleague bound. Luca got some work to do in September!

I would think they'd keep Grimes over McBride in that scenario because the team needs more wing depth. I'm inclined to believe Vildoza gets cut, or they guarantee him and move him for a heavily protected second-rounder. More likely he gets cut.

It'll be interesting to me to see how the Knicks handle the depth. I wouldn't put it past the FO to assign all of Grimes, McBride, Simms to GLeague so that they all get playing time and take that step in the process.
Vildoza will have his chance.

I think he is gone. Now that the coach got to see Deuce, I just can't see them "wasting" money on Vildoza.
I think Walker gets a 2 way deal, or the other kid (the undrafted FA.)
Scout on Beacon per Berman article
“Bacon is a 2-3, can score some but is undisciplined and lacks basketball IQ,’’ one longtime NBA scout told The Post. “Clifford liked him better than I would have expected. That likely has a lot to do with why the Knicks signed him. I’m certain Clifford recommended him to Thibs, but he’s more scorer than shooter and needs the ball in his hands to score.
“He’s not a good spot-up, catch-and-shoot guy like Reggie Bullock [who left for Dallas],’’ the scout said. “He really has zero ability to create for anyone else. I know the Knicks need scoring, but it’s a questionable fit.’’

teams don’t recruit and woo a kid, paid him a few mil for last season, then just blow him off. Not a good look to invite a kid to the party then then leave him hanging.
If he is in camp, he’ll get a chance. For all we know he might decide that the team’s make up does not look good for him (as you alluded) and he might just take another gig in Europe?
Neither has demonstrated proficiency at the varsity level. Vildoza has a resume in euro league that is higher than McBrides NCAA and Summerleague. All enthusiasm is valid but time table might be a bit drawn out.
Seems Luca had foot issues in olympics and summer league. Not very opportune timing. McBride got to shine and seized the moment.

I think Bacon is going to make the team and get some minutes. Seems like a guy who is actually coming into his own/prime at 26 (maturing) and someone who has some one-one put ball on the floor scoring Knicks seem to be targeting.
Could see Bacon as some insurance if for example Mitch/Knox were to go in a Turner deal. Just feels like a guy given the Thibs/Clifford connection that Thibs may give a chance and maybe Bacon blossoms under Thibs.
TBD I guess — could be all my imagination.

I don't know what you mean by "wasting" but I don't think teams think in those terms.
They will try to assess if he is an asset or not, even with the depth at PG behind Kemba, Rose and with IQ/Deuce.
The Knicks are in a "win" mode more than a "develop at all costs" mode.
I also don't think they see IQ as a full time PG, and this is still somewhere between They don't see him AT ALL as a PG or just yet. I think they will give him another year to see what flushes out.
Knicks have a unique position of letting their young guys either hang with the big team or flex out in the GLeague for whatever time period - Jericho, other Simms, Grimes, Duece is a good core for that. If so, Vildoza gives the Knicks an additional PG to sit behind Kemba/Rose on a daily basis and on the road.
Knicks basically got an young experienced guy who has shown some scoring ability at this level and has good NBA size on the wing for an undrafted FA price. Seems like a fair transaction to bring someone like him in camp. They also got a young guy with Euroleague cred at position they were thin at for a bit of cash that they had to spare for a free look at him in camp. Both of these are smart moves. Vildoza seems more expendable now, but there was also a universe where McBride does nothing in summer league, we could have lost Rose in FA and not gotten Walker b/c he doesn't get bought out. Getting Vildoza was smart planning.

Isn't Vildoza 26,27? I don't think you should call him a kid- it suggests he's still developing. Ain't nobody care if this guy makes his millions when Andre Drummond and Carmelo are making the same combined. I think all of us are hoping for Pablo Priogini part II,but I just don't see it. It's hard for me to imagine a Euro vet playing inconsistent minutes will be an impact player.
I don't think Bacon was getting his minutes based on his offensive ability.
