Knixkik wrote:A deal for Turner makes sense but I don’t see that happening. The answer has to be Jaren Jackson jr. he’s got so many ties to the organization and seems like Memphis isn’t fully committing to a plan nor to him. Maybe that changes soon but not until there’s an extension. He’s not quite the guy you go all in on, but you start with Toppin and Mitch and fill in what’s needed with picks. It just depends on how many. Maybe 2 1sts. But he’s that young, defensive big who can also shoot and raise the level at the center position beyond what it is now. He’s got durability issues similar to Mitch, but having Noel, Gibson and Sims here helps in that area.

Thing is we would trade obi, Knox and Mitch for Jackson, but the grizzlies have 17 guaranteed contracts, they are trying to lessen also contrscts

No you’re thinking of Anakin. The Knicks are trading Knox for Anakin Skywalker.

You mean the little kid from the 4th movie? Salaries would never match. And it fails the mirror test miserably. Anakin can move anything with the force. Knox can't manage to move his own corpse on defense.

A center who can shoot 3's and defend the rim..See Myles Turner.

Given the rosters for both teams, how do you see a trade? Turner makes 20mil? Mitch on the books for 1.5mm.
TJ warren could have figured into this some how. I think we cant trade free agents until after December?
Turner would be a nice piece with Noel backing him up. How do we get there?

Philc1 @ 8/23/2021 3:05 PM
Why do you guys think the pacers are so desperate to trade Turner?

And even if they did, they aren’t giving him up for peanuts it would probably cost us RJ and Mitch. No thanks

I don't think it'd would cost RJ, but Mitch would definitely go in that scenario. I'm not sure how desperate they are, but I'm pretty sure they're the ones who are the source for most of these rumors. Maybe trying to build a trade market?

The main reason is Sabonis is a center. He’s similar in skill set to Randle before Randle became a shooter and defender. Sabonis is less mobile. He’s not a PF. Turner has 2 more seasons on his fair contract and becomes less valuable as free agency becomes closer. They need to move Sabonis to center and find a more suitable PF to take advantage of Sabonis’ passing. Toppin is a fit there to be honest, it’s just a matter of if we would do that.

I think Mitch, Obi and knox for Turner gets your there cap wise. Probably have to throw in a pick too.

Yup! You do this trade, Toppin will be very limited here as thibs is not comfortable playing him and Randle together, especially with solid depth at center.

If we do the trade(Mitch,Knox and toppin), we can sign Millsap to be the back up of Randle

Turner/Noel
Randle/Millsap
Barrett/Burks
Fournier/IQ
Kemba/Rose

Balance 5
Sims
Gibson
McBride
Grimes
vildoza

Solid roster with good depth. Our rookies will be glued to the bench unless injuries or load management. Hoping they use the g league intensively

I would do this trade.

xavier @ 8/24/2021 4:47 AM
I don’t believe we are planning any trade at the moment. FO has done what they could in the market and I believe this is the roster we are entering the season with.

But I’m pretty sure that once all the new contracts become eligible for trade, we’ll try to do some bigger trade. I’m kind of sure the FO will do due diligence around Beal and Lillard. Whether any of these trades will happen is questionable, but I’m sure Rose and the rest of the team will try it.

Everyone mentions Turner, but I think he would end up costing more than one thinks. If we fail to bring in one of the top players (Beal, Lillard), it is possible that we will try to do some minor trade, although I would not be surprised if we do nothing in that case and stay with this roster.

TLover @ 8/24/2021 8:21 AM
Jaren Jackson Jr for Mitch, Knox and 3 first rounders would work for me. But Obi or Quickly would probably have to be put in the deal.

Mitch is one of my favorite Knicks but his looming contract situation could be an issue.

JJJ with his ability to stretch the floor (and everything else he can do) would make everyone better.

I agree that the roster is pretty much set. I'm just not sure what happens with Bacon, Vildoza, and the rookies.

Similar to a Turner deal, i can see a deal centered around Obi and Mitch, but with more draft picks included. I'm not sure what Memphis' plan is. They seem stuck between wanting to compete and wanting to save money/rebuild. Jackson has injury concerns, and we will have to wait on an extension there, but giving Jackson's connection to the front office, coaching staff, and area, I'm sure they are keeping a close eye on him. In fact, with all of the Turner talk, i'm surprised there isn't more talk about Jackson.

Memphis might have concerns about his health and extending him. Should we too?
Memphis seems to be similar to us and really new post tank era. Not tanking! Does not pay. OKC moved back and Rockets who sucked from the moment they bolted Harden did luck out.
They had a great draft and perhaps the criticism they got last year was not warranted. Its why we say “give it a few years to see……”.
We laughed at Suns thinking Booker was there for us, and ATL as they did Swap for Trae and Redish for what became Luca.
Even Knicks we at from woeful to 4th seed in one season! Parity is more prevelent in the NBA and money is too substantial to be wishing on saviors like Zion walking away. Trades are expensive. Home grown is the NBA gold.
WE got very lucky with Randle!!!!! RJ is the wild card now.

Memphis Moved Valachunas for Steve adams. Until otherwise noted they will play him and perhaps bring in Jackson who could play the 4. From office connects with his dad does not change his value to Memphis or his medical. Advantage is his dad likely knows his issues intimately. But his dad also wants him to get paid big time also!!!! There exists a conflict.

You sure you’re not confusing Sabonis with his dad? He’s forward in today’s nba

And no that’s way too much to trade just to upgrade at C

It’s well documented over the last couple of seasons that Indiana feels he’s better utilized as a center but obviously hasn’t completely committed to the breakup for the 2 bigs. I think he can play either position but he’s not the perfect defender for either position.
