Kerr taught Kenny how to renege on a deal
My guess is Keer might have laid out a timeline for his exit and Atkinson was cool with it to stay? Build a next generation team then take over?
Kerr has first hand knowledge of Jordan too and may have simply said you’ll be wasting your time or killing your career
Hornets were 43-39 last year and have a good young roster with LaMelo. Hornets must given Atkinson a low ball offer that’s the only logical explanation
Bright move by Atkinson .. I believe a lot of other head coaches should've did the same, like Tom Thibs he should have stayed Boston Celtics assistant coach.

Really? He was assistant to Doc Rivers. He should have stayed until rebuild time then languish for. A few years? Not get paid as a head coach? He did a bad Job in chicago?
He was not that awful in Minny had the owner had a set of balls. It went wrong because Jimmy called out the yoot and Thibs had top pick a side. Jimmy was right, but awful way to go about it.
HIndsight is so easy.
Like Boston did not spend like GSW spends. Boston was a wing short of winning it all. True they got all the way and fell two games short. They let Fornier walk, and we assume thats why they ascended. But they did not use the trade exempt they got, or about 17mm. How easy to say if they had a 6-7 wing instead of Derick white they would won? No, we can’t do that becauae they got there and all the variables that aggregate.
They MAYBE was a player short. GSW is paying a hell of a tax to win chips.
What was the reason Atkinson backed out on Hornets? Kerr whispered about Jordan? They played together and he hit him. but they won chips. I doubt there was any great revelation. Jordan hates losing, and is an awful person to work with. So are many owners. Did Kerr and GSW put in a succession plan for Kenny and pay him better? Maybe. But, why did they get all the way a few weeks in and then he back outs? Cuz they won a chip?
Had time to talk about “It”? Is Kerr about to step away?
I don’t know why. Kemet, are yo saying Thibs should not have taken a head coaching job because he is best suited to be an assistant? Should have waited until rivers was fired or quit, then ascended to the top job? How long would that have taken? You think Fiz regrets trying to be a head coach? Or any other assistant who took a promotion? What about all the guys that did and succeeded?
