I agree! That has been the exact role I wanted for him since summer league. In my opinion, he has decent PG skills but they are not good enough to be a starting PG or to be consistently good at PG. Those skills come in handy when he is a SG. Quick does his best when Rose breaks down the D and he can attack an already scrambling D. Quick funny enough is not quick enough to breakdown defenders when a defense is set. His shooting percentages also tank once he acts as a lead guard. So while he is not a bad PG you are wasting a majority of his potential if you play him there.
Really good thread on one of the reasons for the struggle offense this year.

Harris is a good player making to much money. Simmons and Harris equates to more $60M annually in cap space. Sixers are treading water, so to speak. But they've clearly dropped a level with Ben's absence. How many player's in the league are good enough where you would take on their salary, plus an extra $30M. Luka? Ja? Joking? KD? Maybe Kawhi? There are only a handful of players in that tier and Ben isn't one of them. And I actually like Simmons and would take him on the Knicks.
He is not perfect. he is not the best defender or 3pt shooter but he does something we really need. He can beat his man off the dribble. This is why Rose is so important for us. He is the only person we have that can do it. Quick last game could not get past the 3pt line and keep passing the ball back to Obi so far out Obi could do nothing with it.

Watching end of Nets/Warriors and guys like Klay and Irving hitting tough clutch threes makes me sad we have no one who can do that on a regular basis.

Yeah but he is making $30 Million for that one skill on a 5 year deal. I rather they go after Brunson who can shoot, drive, and defend… for less money.

You realize how much extra pressure and flack you get playing in NY than other places by comparing the heat Randle’s getting to the complete pass Bradley Beal is getting for his pitiful play this season and zero impact on the Wiz, yet is still on course for the ultra max- ridiculously over rated player who has coasted for years, achieved nothing yet never gets any flack by the press.

Yes, Bradley has had an off year, but we wish Randle's falloff was as bad as Beal's. Add in Randle's erratic effort levels and I don't think there's a comparison.
KP missing his 17th game of the year tonight with "knee soreness", which doesn't count the games he left early. Meanwhile the Mavs have become something of a poor man's juggernaut.

Funny you said that. It’s sort of unrelated, but I still think the goal to keep playing the starters together is that none of them can individually be the one to blame if they start winning without them. Aka none of them can lose value like Ben Simmons has by their absence.
Even JVG said he couldn’t tell who was to blame for them being bad last week. So while they suck as a group, individually none of their stocks can go down. Hell we’re the fans and watch the Knicks regularly and we can’t tell whose actually to blame for the fall off either. They look bad but is it because they suck as a group or someone individually is to blame?
If Thibs was to put IQ in for Kemba and they started winning, Kemba’s trade stock is zero.
Same if Grimes replaced Fournier, or Obi replaced Randle and the team turned it around. If any of the kids help make the situation better, the person they are replacing becomes untradeable.

Another reason to target Brunson in the offseason is to ensure that 2023 Mavs pick stays in the low 20’s…
We do have a ton of young talent. If we can develop all of them we will be set.
