The problem with Ben Simmons is that he has handled this whole situation unprofessionally. He’s getting paid over 30 million a year. When you get paid that much money you can’t take just two shots in a game 7. He sucked and instead of viewing the situation as an opportunity to prove his worth, he decides to pout like a kid. You are getting paid, so go to work. No one said you had to be happy. You think Chris Paul wanted to go OKC. Hell no but he did not pout. He made himself better, improved his trade value, and then got traded to a place he wanted to be. Simmons could have done the same if he focused on improving his game, improved his trade value, and Philly could have sent him where he wanted to go. If I am Philly, I just sit him. They have enough talent to make it to the playoffs without him. I would make him sit out until the trade deadline. At some point, a team is going to bite and give Philly what it wants. Either that or Ben Simmons decides that his hurt feelings are not worth losing $8-$15 million.

I don't think the Rockets got fair value for Harden or the Knicks did for KP and Melo. Simmons is an All Defense first team and an All Star. The Wizards and Portland aren't trading Lillard or Beal for him. Fair value is the enemy of best deal.

Embiid was more explicit than Doc "We lost the game when we got a point rather than a dunk." He later walked back those comments in the most self serving way possible "I like Ben and want to play with him. I love the criticism it makes me better but it's not for everyone" (paraphrasing). Ben has had some pretty awesome games (42 vs Utah) with Embiid out. Is it wrong for him to say, you know what we don't complement each other as players or teammates. At some point you have to tell the kids you're getting a divorce.

He's willing to not get paid to not work. Why misconstrue that? If John Wall and Kevin Love decided to do the same thing，do you think Gilbert and Fertitta would be complaining? Hell no.

Washington got the Westbrook trade done in an afternoon. Orlando traded Fournier，Vucevic，and Gordon in a day. Morey had a month to move Ben before the draft and instead his bluff got called. Don't think that his willingness to cost the league a billion dollars in lost revenue didn't play a part.

This is all just sour grapes on Morey's part because God forbid he makes a trade that tarnishes his Jeremy Lamb and Steve Addams for Harden legacy.

Chris Paul became the head of the player's union for the specific reason of reworking the over 35 rule to benefit himself and LeBron. Ben is willing to sacrifice millions to find a better working environment.

The 76ers don’t have any obligation to trade Simmons. They did not sign a contract requiring them to trade him. Simmons signed a contract requiring him to play. Look, I am not unsympathetic to the issue but the reality is Simmons game has not evolved. There is no logical reason for why this guy refuses to shoot the ball. During the summer, he is in pickup games taking jumper after jumper but he refuses to shoot in real games. It was like 4 years into his career before he made his first 3 pointer. How is that even possible?! There is something seriously going on with his head. And if I am another team, why would I give up my best players for a guy that you cannot trust is fully committed. That is why teams are lowballing the Sixers and Morey is like I am not going to rush into a bad trade. I understand his logic. If I am going to make a bad trade for Simmons, you might as wait, let Simmons feel some pain in lost money, and maybe teams will bite once they see you are not going to take the first offer weak offer.

He scored 42 points in a game vs the best defense in the league! You take what you can get， no one is expecting Lillard to be a lock down defender. By docking his pay 76ers are putting pressure on Simmons to happily accept a deal to Sacramento/ Indiana/ Minnesota/ non glamour franchise. At the same time the hold out is negatively effecting the team; the players are getting sick of answering questions about it.

I don't see how a hold out improves offers. Once the season starts and the 76eRd start losing games because Tyrese Maxey can't handle the pressure，the situation becomes more desperate for Philly.

Also，I think damage has already been done. It leaked that when 76ers met with Ben last month they told him they would play him at center when Embiid sat. Drummond signed for the minimum and even before the first game it became clear the franchise had no interest in helping him rebuild his value. At the end of the day franchise turmoil is a far worse threat to Philly than to Simmons.

Ben Simmons May be shooting with the wrong hand, which is crazy to think could be the case.

They should fire Doc Rivers. This guy is probably the most overrated coach I have ever seen. He opened up a can of worms with his big mouth. Doc has done this at every stop. They should ask Simmons if he would comeback if they let Doc go. If he says no then Philly can keep Doc until he wears out his welcome with Embid.

Philly has already turned down way better offers. Also, RJ would likely have to go. Knicks need to stay clear it Ben Simmons.

Maybe that was offered to Simmons and rejected. Looking at Doc’s contract its a big nut for Philly to swallow.
Embiid has performed very well under Embiid.
Doc might regret his public choice of words but it was the heat of the moment after a bad loss and Simmmons really a bit thin skinned. That Morey tried to move him for Harden previously was also reported as one of his issues.
Philly was good last season. Top record in the east. Its not like they were object failures. They have been close for a few years now. They need a player in return to keep them there. That is their goal. Is it reasonable? Knicks don’t have that kind of player. Teams looking to trade for him don’t want to give up its best playaer. D’araon Fox is really liked in SAC and that team is really testing its fans patience. If Simmons did not elevate them it gets ugly.
The sharks are swimming around PHilly smelling blood and they want simmons on the cheap. They in a pickle. Blaming Doc might not really fix it.

So I’d be searching for veteran help that’s reasonable without the meteoric ask that morey is hoping for.

The most realistic and rational thing to do would seem to be for the Sixers to pursue a trade package with the Pacers for Myles Turner, and potentially solving at a stroke both teams alleged front court spacing issues.

Maybe Philly ownership sees with simmons the talent the last few years warranted a “championship or bust” mentality and the player, a 25 year old allstar with years left on his deal and Top 5 player in Embiid. So its ok for them to seek a lessor than chip value in a trade return? Morey knows how small chip window is and sees that he won’t just trade the asset for less. He can rot on the sidlines before they might cave? I don’t know how this resolves.

And what exactly did Rivers say about Simmons that was so inflammatory? Asked if he could be a championship PG said that the answer was still pending? I think it is! And Ben can answer it. And he seems to have answered it- no, he isn’t strong enough to look at his crap performance and think, yea, I got work to do. Weak.

Unless there was some physical or emotional thing going - like his mom dying of cancer or something like that that plagued Simmons in the play offs- and Rivers knew, then maybe that is an excuse.

Great talent with flaws paid like a player without flaws.

If the Sixers can clear his contract, they should feel lucky.

Doc Rivers has been given stacked teams that are made for the playoffs. He was able to deliver the championship once. That to with a stacked team of HOFers. He has been given talent so wins will come. And he leaves a destination and the wins still come to that organization. It’s not like he is the miracle worker that transforms teams into championship teams or puts them over the top.

That's every coach. Generally you need a stacked team to win a championship.

And quite frankly, you need mentally tough PLAYERS to win the game cause, you know, it's a players league and they are on the court. You can group Charles Smith like players and Simmons into the same category. Or was it Riley's fault that Ewing and company never won?

Faux pas that Doc said the quiet part out loud? Maybe. But if you can't send some of that type of friendly fire to your players, then they need to be shipped out.

Simmons folded under the most faint of criticisms. Literally put his tail between his legs and ran to his bedroom to hide, and when his brothers on the team told them they would go to him in solidarity, he put a sign on the front of the door saying "Stay away, I hate you all"

Totally agree. Simmons could have turned this problem into an opportunity to prove his greatness. Instead, he decided to pout. If I were the 76ers, I would sit him until the trade deadline and if did not get a trade I like, I would make him sit all season.

I would trade him to the Kings for Hield and Haliburton and this year pick swap unprotected first rounder.

To me Philly is still a really good team and Fox and Simmons probably would suck this year leading to that pick being a lot better than the one Philly would swap with them. If Morey had to be an asshole and show he got a lot for Simmons, I would then ask for two swaps. Either way it would be a solid deal for Simmons who is on strike. Flipside, Philly would have more 3 pt shooters around Embiid.

From my personal experience as someone who does somethings righty and somethings lefty I think there may be some truth to this. I eat and write left handed and most athletic activities right handed. I shoot right handed but my shot looks more natural and "pretty" when I shoot it lefty.
