If the size is right then I can definitely see him fitting off the bench alongside McBride.

Oh yeah, he is legit 6’4” and big

I just want to know if there’s any recent scouting of him that can give an idea of what he really is at this point. There’s very little mentioned about him this season. The hype around his Rising star award is gone. My baseline is how does he compare to Tyler Kolek, same age , size and overall game, who is the top PG at the college level right now. I just want to her a feel for how good Rokas really is at this point. I’m stuck between wanting to sign him and wanting to draft a first round PG like Kolek, Carter or McCain.

Off top I envision a 2ndary ball handler. Can defend SGs given his size and length. Can shoot or create off the kick outs from a broken down defense.

big aggressive multi positional guard with a diverse skill set is a great fit for Thibs. He's gotta play defense but he's worth seeing if he's a fit

What's the consensus on what you pay him? 3 years 12M?
DLeethal @ 3/27/2024 1:10 PM
Dream fit next to Deuce if his skills carry over.

Shake Milton is already a better prospect and he can bearly get minutes in a blow out. Rojas was a late second round pick, right? I still don't get the hype here. I just don't see any scenario where he comes here and plays unless there's a rash of back court injuries.

Shake is older and has been in the league for 6 years. I don't think we can say he's a better a prospect than the Rok. I don't even think we can call Shake a prospect at this point. That said, I they have different skills. The Rok is a point guard who can get the team into it's sets. Shake is a combo guard who can spot some minutes at point guard, like Burks did for the team a few seasons ago. Also, the Rok was an early second round pick. A lot of mocks had him going first round I think he was picked ahead of Deuce.

Rokas was an early 2nd rounder taken two spots ahead of Deuce (and one spot ahead of Herb Jones) who was considered a high potential draft and stash. Since we drafted him he went on to play for Barcelona, one of the most prestigious teams in the Euroleague, and has had great performances for his home country of Lithuania. He is a really good prospect. Might still bust like anyone else, but he has the appearance of a modern NBA rotation player. Can he play for Thibs? We shall see.

Curious how you reached these conclusions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rokas_Joku...

Joku has assembled a strong resume and list of achievements at a young age, including the 2022 EuroRising star.

He has positional size and length.

He has scoring potential and passing potential. But more than that, he just plain wins.

As with many Euro players, we can wonder whether his skills translate to the athleticism and timing of the NBA. This guy shows gamer. We caught a glimpse in USA vs LIT (spoiler, Joku wins).

So, while I don’t necessarily have the info to say you are wrong, your post similarly lacks any basis for Supporting you are right. So, what do you have to back it up?

I’m really curious about him and I wish more experts on this topic would tweet something about him as far as some opinion of what he is as a prospect and how his game will translate. He’s very accomplished and has a good overseas rep. Stats are impossible to translate overseas from my understanding, especially since he’s so young. I really have no idea how good he is. I am very curious how he compares to a top college 4-year PG such as kolek. He’s CAA so the Knicks must have some sort of plan for him with his agent. In theory there’s a need here after Quickley was traded. Whether behind deuce or alongside him, the Knicks need another PG/ playmaker badly to develop. It just comes down to is he good enough ?

Rokas was a stash pick, those always go later and many times they end up gems. It was also a dicey gamble because it was not a given he would ever come over, thus hurting his stock a bit. He is a highly touted Euro prospect.

Lol he's coming over for the summer league first and foremost. Lets start from there.

His team and the Knicks probably came to an agreement. He comes over for summer league to showcase himself. Either he shows enough where the Knicks feel they can move forward with him. Or another team becomes intrigued and he is moved for other assets. If he wants to play in the NBA, this is the path Knicks most likely laid out for him to do so. If not Knicks will have no problem just keeping his rights and letting him stay overseas.

We don't know what's going to happen in the offseason. Precious could sign with another team, Bojan &/or Mitch can be traded. There could very easily end up being an opening on the bench.

Or the possibility that he is a better piece than Bojan or Precious in comparison to the salaries they will hold.

Rokas was an early 2nd round pick, and its not unusual for EURO guys to go later if they aren't projected to come over right away. I mean Jokic was the 44th pick? Manu was 56th? And I'm sure you could find a ton more.

Not sure what that has to do with anything though, Rokas can play. He'd be a 1st rounder easily in this draft if he was coming over.

Yea, seems like a clear path is forming for him to have the backup PG role next year if he wants it and the Knicks want him to have it.

His contract provides for an out now so its all good. e signed a 1+1+1+1 deal. I believe he does not have to pay himself out.

From two years ago:

You said that you only think about moving to the NBA when you get everything the EuroLeague. What needs to happen for you to think that way?
Some people thought this was my thinking about titles, but I meant something else. It will happen when I feel inside that I have reached my maximum in terms of my improvement.

There are many bad examples, like Kevin Pangos, who dominated in the EuroLeague. It's the NBA where even the best European players don't fit in. Two years or so will pass, and I'll talk to my agent about going to the NBA.

But before that, I'll have to feel 100 percent confident that at least I'll have a chance to fight for the minutes. For example, I come to the US, and they say that you will play in the G League, and sometimes you will be with the main team. Then it's better to improve in the EuroLeague.

There are players who openly say that they are EuroLeague athletes and don't see themselves in the NBA. How do you rate the playstyle across the Atlantic and your options there?
Now it's hard to imagine me there. But I didn't imagine myself in Barcelona before the season or in Zalgiris a couple of years ago. I don't always dream too much, I look at it from a realistic point of view. At the moment, I can't imagine myself in the NBA because there's another world out there, but I'd really like to try to establish myself in there.

I believe there was a plan. Baring a trade or a draft pick beating him out with Grimes and IQ out there is path.
Does that mean he has a guaranteed for minutes? Doubt that. But perhaps a role where he gets an opportunity. Show up in the SL, then have a reasonable path given roster constructions. Maybe it works. Maybe he gets beaten out by a rookie but if good enough he can be traded, or released with a nice bag of money for his troubles.

Oh, I just saw that he was averaging 5.6 pts in Euro league play.
