I haven't been super excited about Rokas (as I'm not sure he has the speed for the NBA), but I do hope even if he doesn't play for the Knicks, at least they can get some value for him as a trade asset unlike the other stash Euros the Knicks have drafted over the years.

Just eyeballing box score for Barcelona looks like he's been nothing to special. I think he'll get his opportunity to tryout with the team and hopefully he can make something happen especially if we donT get the dallas pick this year.

Let's say Dallas finishes in 10 in the lottery. Think swapping Rokas to Dallas for the removal of the protection so the Knicks can draft will work ?

Who do you like at #10 that would incentivize you to throw in additional assets?

Rokas still at least 1 move away from having a role here. Sure, I get excited watching the clips, but I also really like Quickley/Grimes/Deuce. Until we make some tough trade decisions and consolidate talent, don't see whose minutes he takes (and not sure he leapfrogs Deuce as next man up).

I share your hope. Hope he carries value of at least a mid to late 1st rounder for a future trade.

Dallas will want to know where they pick. I don’t think they are trying to give up a lottery pick to the Knicks even with Rokas going there. I think they either hope to make the playoffs or hope they can keep the pick in the top 10. A pick that lands in the 11-14 range is really a nightmare scenario for them.

Nightmare scenario is the pick remains in their hands, but Kyrie leaves, and the Knicks get a even better lottery pick down the road. Might want to just rip the band aide off. Give the Knicks pick 10 for some seconds and Rokas. Or worse they have pick 9 or 10 and in the lottery it falls back to 11.

Dallas' problem if our pick doesn't convey this year is that they gave up a future pick (2029 to NJ) and can't trade but 1 ( I think) first till 2031 (which few teams will want (unless they are rolling in picks/assets themselves.)

The pick owed to us can't get any better, it is top 10 protected the next two years. But next years draft is weak, supposedly. In a way, I think if it benefits Dallas, they might go for taking on an asset (Roka, etc.) to give us the pick this year (depending on who is sitting there and where the pick falls). Because that opens up future trades for them.

They are in a BAD spot regarding Luka. Kyrie can make a demand or bolt. (e.g. Bring in talent by trading that pick or he demands a trade to the Lakers for Russel. I don't think there are many teams that want Kyrie or have the space to sign him outright.)

I could be wrong, but never have I known of a team in such a bad spot despite having a such a great young player. Doncic is the dream. He’s a top 5 player and really young. He can be an all-time great. But his attitude has gotten worse and Dallas lets go of the guys like Brunson and DFS who were the culture-building security blankets around Doncic, and prioritize problem-children like kyrie and Wood instead. Just mind-boggling stuff.

I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I’m just looking forward to this guy playing in the Garden to hear his name called every time he scores.

100%

Luka is supposed to be going through serious family problems, enough for him to acknowledge it to the media.

A change of scenery (cough, cough) better teammates, new coach who knows how to get the most out Luka's multi-generational talent. Things will be a lot different. Absolutely worth the FO pursuing IMO.

Wonder how many Randle "dislikers," troubled by his temper, are fully prepared to embrace tantrum prone, amasser of technicals Luka? Genuine question.

Only player I've come close to disliking was Noah. For "coming home" just to ripoff his hometown team.

Framing any criticism of Randle in purely emotional terms, seems to be a common thread in all your posts.

As for Luka, I will take the techs, with the first ballot HOF talent. At 24.

Edited.

We agree on Noah.

If we winning, him and randle are tolerable. Lose, don’t get back on Defense, Luka will get boo’d.
Mav fans are too much in shock to start that yet. They must be sick to have lost Brunson in hindsight after his season and Kyrie is has yet to bring winning. Im in the camp he stays. Just a guess. He leaves, then they really must trade Luka. Cube can remind they went to conf. Finals last year despite the KP thing, and he did try with kyrie. Fan base should be ok with that.
Luka comes here he will not be immune until he earns some moments. Otherwise he gets it worse then Melo did. Melo was treated very well for the most part by fans. Fans blamed Jimmy, Steve and Phil for most of it. Deservingly so.

I'm guessing that Randle would be part of any deal. I dont see them as a good fit.

If Luka retired tomorrow at 24, he would be in the HOF.

Melo got lots of techs, no one cared because they didnt affect the outcome. The team heard its share of boos during the Melo years, but he didnt get booed personally(from what I remember) until his last season in NY. When he would start his "ISO Melo". It must have stuck with him because thats one of the first things he worked on during that year off. There are articles about it out there.

Luka is on another level, and he's more inclined to share the rock. I believe he's smart enough to know that he would be held to a higher standard at MSG. Aside from the off the court issues, I believe some of his frustration is with the Dallas FO's inability to build a contender around him.

Im guessing that Cuban senses this, hence the desperation move with Irving.

I was very skeptical of the Leon Rose hire. But bringing in a talent like Luka is a big reason why he was hired. We arent going to contend year in and year out like we used to, without an elite player. With Luka we have a 24 year old multi-generational talent, with Lebron-like potential, who might be looking for the exit.

Would love for the Dallas FO to hear that "Leon was on the line."
