I mean honestly Deuce is looking like he could even be the starting SG next year, he's like a mini OG out there.
Harder to see a role for Rokas now. we are pretty set with the guard rotation with Brunson/Deuce/DDV.
What we really need is a big wing that can play SG/SF and even PF. We have two picks and the MLE to fill that role. Still think Da Silva would be an ideal fit here.
We have two first rounders and I hope we draft that player. We can also sign a MLE guy - aim high like Derozan. He might be ready to MLE on a contender now.

Lets take Deuce down just a notch. Kid is not superman yet. Now Im not saying he won't have a major role, he will. Bit more consistancy would be nice but I expect improvement for sure. Rokas? He has not earned a guaranty yet that he even gets that chance. Thats what Summer league is. Not just games, but in practice he has to be head and above others that don't have contracts. We have picks, and for all we know he could be trade fodder for a team that really likes him. Knick move could be a late 1st or 2nd and Rokas for AJ griffin and let Bryant work with the kid for a year or two? Just spitballing. Get a kid whose NBA warts are seen and work on it.
Deuce has been very consistent for months now, his minutes go up and down based on whether DDV is hot or not, but he's always defending and shooting at a high level.
He's a mini OG making $3m, unless we get someone better he will def be ready to play 25-30mpg next year if not more.

Yea Da Silva is my target, high IQ SF/PF who is NBA ready. reminds me of Jacque from MIA.
And yea Derozan makes sense now, we have enough shooters to where he fits here now. Would love to get him with the MLE. You can make the case that Derozan and OG at the forward spots would be better than Randle and OG.

He is ready, but I like what DDV brings. Currently if DDV is not "On", Deuce finishes. I have not issues at all here.

I might argue deuce is looking like the starting SG. I might also argue that Rokas has a shot at backup PG in a line with DDV, Hart and Robinson. But I think we will get a look at him in Summer League and the Euro / NBA translation isn’t always 1 to 1. In fact, it rarely is. I see passing and 3 point shooting as his strengths. He also seems to have a bit of grit.
nycericanguy@ 5/5/2024 11:42 AM
Im just not sure Rokas comes over for a 10-15mpg type role. and that might be all thats available at best.

Rokas is a PG so he would spell Brunson.

Not sure the exact implications but using MLE would hard cap them at first apron and most likely count them out for year for major trades. I’d doubt the Knicks would handcuff themselves that way

Perhaps a more reasonable solution than trading the farm for Donovan Mitchell so we have someone to direct the offense for 8 minutes while Brunson sits. As some here seem to think is the reason to get Mitchell.

Fuck yes he would. The $ and everything else that comes with that dream is absolutely good enough reason to make headway to the NBA.

hope so, and if he's good enough he'll get more minutes.
but just looking at the guard rotation there could be 10mpg at least available. and of course there's always injuries.
JB 34 / Deuce 14 DDV 26 / Deuce 11 / Rokas 11?

Maybe he will for a guaranteed every night role even if it’s a small one. Depends how bad he wants the NBA dream. Do Knicks lose his rights at some point if he doesn’t come over?

We shall see how the summer and trades shake out. Rokas playing the summer league is good for Knicks, good for Rokas and everyone involved has interest to see him do well.
And if he shines, Rokas can also put himself into a better position to get traded if that is in his best interest.
Nalod@ 5/5/2024 2:35 PM
You give the kid a two year deal with a team option. Hand shake agreement if it don't work out let him walk. No guarantee. No in the house of tibs
Rookie@ 5/5/2024 2:48 PM
6’4” 23 y.o. PG. Coming in as. Rookie. The kid is plays like a dog. He’ll fit right in with this group. If he is expecting minutes right away, he’ll have to earn them

oh man imagine this guy is good. We lock him up on a McBride type deal and a pathway to rotation bench minutes backing up Brunson.
It could also mean trading those draft picks this year (again) which would be fine. With the new CBA the aprons are tough and having access to role players on reasonable contracts is super attractive to these teams paying crazy cap hits
technomaster@ 5/6/2024 7:39 PM
We shouldn't assume he needs *BIG* minutes to come over here. He's never actually gotten consistent big minutes in Europe - that's not how they like to play.
For what it's worth, Roku's stats this year with his regular team suggest that he's only a 12-20mpg type of player. Doing a bit of rounding, but this season he's averaging 17+mpg, 7.3ppg, 2.8apg, 1.5rpg. In general he shoots a pretty high percentage (.553 FG%, .472 3pt% albeit on only 1.2 attempts/game).
He was really impressive in FIBA play last summer (25mpg, 12ppg, 5.3apg, 4.3rpg .571 3pt% over 3 games) and you might be able to get that type of production at the NBA level.
We have no idea what his defense will be like, but he seems to have a high motor and I think he can get on Thibs' good graces based on making things happen on broken plays.
BigDaddyG@ 5/28/2024 3:25 PM
I like the idea of Ricky Rubio going over the and giving the Rok the final seal approval to finally make the move.
martin@ 5/28/2024 3:31 PM
Wait, I got it! Super prime Rokas is what Dallas thought they had in Brunson when they were offering him that $50M extension that he turned down.
That would be a good ceiling for him lol
