Rafael Barlowe has a good feel for the Euro prospects. Seeing him hype up Rokas makes me feel even better about this pick.

Yeah man.

I don't know much about other teams draft prospects but to see remarks written about this kid such as...

BEST DRAFT AND STASH IN THE NBA RIGHT NOW

Is sweet beautiful music to my ears. This kid might be A++ super special.

Can someone explain why the "BEST DRAFT STASH IN THE NBA" scores in the single digits most games?

Because he's a PG who's been given the role of running the offense and getting everyone else involved. He's playing his first year at the highest levels of Euro ball and fans are already saying he should be the permanent replacement for Nick Calathes, who was a solid NBA player and one of the best Euro league playmakers.
Also, the pace is slower and the defense is more physical. His team only averages 83 points a game and their leading scoring averages 17. Still Jokas shoot 57% overall and over 50% from three. To put it into perspective, Luka played for Rokas rival in the ACB and averaged 13 points on 46% overall shooting in his final season there ( not saying he's as good as Luka, just pointing how physical that league is). Luca Vildoza averaged about 10 points, shot 49% overall and 36% from three last season in that league.

Great response and well said man. He's the PG on a team who's #1 in Europe.

Yes to all of this. I'll let some of our Euro-centric posters chime in but I think they way teams play younger guys is much different than in the NBA. They literally don't showcase them and vets get a lot more time and responsibility.

Rokus is in the perfect situation. (I think) His coach is a former PG who was Rokus's coach on previous team last year and recruited him to Barcelona. Touch as nails coach who puts in a lot of work with his PGs. It's literally the best stash situation for him to flourish IMHO, right team right coach right situation.

How good do you think he is?

He is my favorite player right now. I don’t know about his future in the NBA, it’s hard to predict, but in Europe, at the age of 21, he’s one of the best pointguards. He has all the skills to be really good. It`s not only about points and assists, but his influence in the game is huge, he just brings the brain in the game. He is a very nice and likeable person to

Best overseas European draft and stash forreal.

Hes a very very solid PG who is showing a lot of poise and is finding the open men if there is movement on his team (which might be an issue with this Knicks squad and style of play).
Something that is very encouraging is that he has basically been playing 20+ min for Barca in the past 10 games in the Euro League (2nd best league behind the NBA) despite being very young and having lead guards like LaProvitola and Calathes who are very solid veterans! Also his coach as can be seen above in the thread used to be a very good PG and damn sure teaches a great game!

Thing is that I do not know if the Knicks are the right "environment" for him tbh. The Spurs... hell yeah - a lot of off ball movement and cuts is crucial for his game I think!

The video highlights leave a positive impression for sure!
Make me wonder if you stuck EF there how’d he look?
My point? Game there does not have the speed and power of the NBA. Luka Doncic was 17 and to many he his acclimation to the NBA really was surprise to the degree he did.
Rokas? Hope he does the same!

Can you imagine how RJ would look if he was playing in a system with cuts and backdoor screens and such? Any type of offensive sets, as a matter of fact. The only screens we set are above the 3 point line. That's not what an NBA offense looks like. Right now I am surprised he drives to the hoop as much as he does. It's a waste of talent.
He is adding midrange game. That's a skill that lowers a players efficiency. Welcome to 2019. Why is he adding that to his game? Because there are no plays that allow him to be a system player. And to get better at ISO one has to hit the midrange. Just ask Randle

Randle ISO aside, the Knicks run a lot of Horns and Pistol action. I don't follow that kind of stuff but Breen is constantly letting us know when it happens.

The thing about the Horns and Pistol stuff we run is, that it basically is not used to enable off-ball action thought. I dont know the numbers on how often we end up with x y z but usually Horns action leads to...
a) drive n kick situation (esp. with Rose and Burks) where we "find" an open shooter in the corner - then ball movement stops (even Taj is shooting from there this season)
b) pick n pop stuff for Randle from where on its iso from up-top - I hate this
c) one of our bigs trying to go for a lop after a slip screen or such which is more often than not tough for Noel and even Mitch to do

Something that we do not see out of the horns or pistol action is - off-ball picks, cuts n movement which a heady PG like Rokas could use/would need to impact the game!

I agree... RJ would be amazing as a finisher in these off-ball sets - but we get that waaay too rarely!

Why can't we have both? Thibs rumbling along the sideline yelling "ICE" while Sarunas is an assistant, pointing at Kevin Knox and yelling "Get that phucking thing out of here!"
