Yes He was making difficult mid range jumpers last year when he was covered consistently. That was his bread and butter. But his 3 point % was excellent at 41% especially for a big man
A poster made a comment that the hawks exposed Randle and showed how to guard him. I don’t know if it was a strategy thing or just the fact that Capela was on the floor and if you noticed last game Bamba was in the paint and he is blossoming this year. Teams with rim protectors bug Randle
Maybe Obi needs to play more whenever we face a legit rim protecting C because we tend to play more full court press than half court ISO

Yes+100. True rim protectors in this league are( with some exceptions) not good at transition defense. We could totally abuse that by playing more Obi against them.
Julius didn't shoot well tonight but he impacted with 10 rebounds and 9 assists (with only 2 turnovers) and dropped 16 points.

He’s been unbelievably sloppy with the ball and he’s not making quick decisions. He can’t seem to get separation, he’s taking off balanced 3 pointers and the pick and roll handoffs aren’t crisp.
I do feel the Knicks have a bit of the Hawks problem going on. Too many good players, not enough great players. The rotations are off and there are too many minutes to spread around.
The starting lineup doesn’t fit and Burks and Fournier are more effective when dribbling the ball. As is Barrett and Kemba needs the rock to be effective.
A trade does need to be made to free up some time. Otherwise I think this is the Randle we are going to see for the foreseeable future.

Could be and it also took Atlanta long while to figure it out. New coach mid season last year and now this year they are figuring it out again.
Speaking of Atlanta - swapping Randle and Seldon for Bogdanovic and Reddish could probably help both teams rosters...

His defensive awareness has been shit. Half the time it looks like he isn't paying attention.

Or, the Hawks had a very difficult schedule earlier on. All, except one of their losses, have come on the road. They just had a very difficult stretch of games on the west coast trip; Pho, GS, Utah, Denver and they lost to BK just before the west coast trip. They are dominating at home which is a good sign, while we are struggling at home.

Not saying this should/would happen - but Trae seems to need another shot creator with him to take some pressure off. Knicks def need more spacing and outside shooting which Bogs and Reddish would bring.

Randle was what except for last year? His stats have always been good? My prediction is that everyone will be chanting MVP by the end of the year again.
EF is what we wanted. Good shooter that can also drive and put pressure on a defense. He has done that when he is not struggling. The other problem that he has had is that Burkes has had it going recently. Earlier in the year it was the other way around. Hopefully they can both get it going at the same time.
I recall the start of last season before we traded for D.Rose, the Knicks went on a 6 game losing streak, and Randle played each of those six games like an All-Star player. Randle's offense/defense performance is the Knicks biggest problem this season.
Obi Toppin is a much better PF than play-maker Randle. When play-maker Randle are on the court we need a PF down low to help the center in the paint on offense/defense. Every Knicks player crowding the paint on defense after opponents does a double switch is something we seen from coach Fiz. We won one game this season from our defense .. Taj Obi and Quickley dynamic effort on defense beat the Pacers.
We don't even sniff the playoffs without Julius Randle last year.
We would be 10 games below. 500 without Julius Randle this year.

Briggs, notice what I am doing here. Im introducing a concept relative to Randle, but instead of starting a new thread I am participating to an existing one:
Other players that are struggling like Randle? Was listening to Brian Windhorst pod cast and they were discussing both Knicks and Celitcs. Notion of thinking was if knicks repeated last season it would have been a surprise. While they noted the “improvments and depth”, they could not see how the record could really have improved. They are surprised RJ is struggling. Surprised and don’t understand why Randle and Tatum are both having the isuses they are. For Tatum, they think he takes really hard shots and since a rookie he on avg shoots further and further from the basket. I think there is some resemblance to that in Randles game.
Last night he really limited his three ball. I offer no solutions with the delusion I can “fix him”.
I believe there is a chemistry and roles that are not aggregating to the same elements and forumula as last year. Its often possible teams strive and don’t execute. Tatum is even more a star than Randle and not achieving.
RJ had 15 rebounds last night. Shot 2-12. That tells you something. Does not take a scientist to label this “Inconsistant”.
RJ bounces just not back, he historically bounces further. My take he keeps adding to his game and it gets in his head. He is playing far more 3 than at the two.
Team has issues no doubt. Will they get it together this year or they just about a .500 just up or below? I don’t know.
