Quickley
Grimes
Barrett
Toppin
Jericho Sims (who is a young Charles Oakley - with hops)
The current starters are on a pitch count. Slow start? No problem. Have a seat. Our yutes are gaining experience together. The rotations will continue to change as even Stevie Wonder can see what is working.
Think of birthday brotha Julius Randle (27) thinking of himself as a most valuable “whatever it takes” essential player in the mold of All Star Draymond Green. Play traffic cop. Rebound. Defend. Score when needed. Advance the ball across the line only in emergencies. What a wonderful world.
Nerlens Noel, the other ‘old man in the club’ at an ancient 27 years old, is a vital player on defense, and defense only. If he is on the floor, the ball absolutely, positively MUST have life. Hit the open man.
Derrick Rose and Kemba Walker continue to alternate playing point guard stunt man. In order to take advantage of their leadership during the playoff stretch, both of their minutes are monitored with caution over the next five months. Yes, it is a long season.
In January, Kevin Knox gets to cameo with The Furious Five. It’s Kentucky versus Duke all over as he pushes RJ Barrett, but he MUST play defense to earn minutes. Kevin Knox is only 22 years old. This should be his rookie season. No need to be impatient with him. What were YOU doing at 22?
By February, the veterans will provide trusted relief for brief stretches when the Furious Five need oxygen. In March, Evan Fournier is gradually transitioned to the role of sixth man. Mitchell Robinson is put in bubble wrap until April. In May, Taj Gibson provides valuable minutes behind Toppin at the four.
To change IS to grow.
Charles Oakley is a terrible comparison for Sims. Charles Oakley played in cement shoes. Sims is a pogo stick. I'm trying to find a good comp for him. Athletically, he's closer to Ben Wallace than Oakley, but has a lot to gain in defensive instinct. How about Antonio Davis?
Camby had range actually.
Videos of Simms shot is awkward. He is a thick kid with good hops and learning. really not very optimistic but thats what 58th picks are usually slotted at.
Capella can make most look silly as he is very crafty and active on both ends. Sims did ok. Burks on Trae was kind of interesting. We dared him to beat us. He did fine, rest of Hawks looked awful.
Lot of love for Grimes on these pages. Has he earned it yet? I like he is getting some time but………….

camby
Camby was a skinny kid. Sims is thick and muscular. Physically, he's a beast. But again it remains to be seen if he can develop the defensive instincts of Camby or Wallace.
Right now I'm thinking Robin Lopez. Just not sure if I'm being influenced by the hair!

Kevin Willis with long arms?
It always fascinates me when I see you lightly compare players who have yet to show if they can be useful at all at the NBA level with players like Oakley, Camby or Wallace.

This.
Most fans like to think they know more based on hyped expectations or plain hope. Let kids like Grimes and Sims play more than 100 minutes before we declare them anything.

I'm not actually declaring much in terms of basketball. I'm just looking at his raw athletic ability. Yes, in that regard I'm comparing him to all stars, but that's because i hardly remember the inconsequential players, unless they were Knicks. Be glad i didn't compare him to Shawn Kemp! I was tempted

With some knicks fans, It really doesn't matter how many minutes he played or how good or bad they play, as long as they were drafted by the knicks they will always have star potential.
Sims plays with More energy and effort than Mitch, doesn't hangout under the basket, and has the energy and speed to challenge perimeter shots. That kids runs down the court with purpose and is always moving around and being active.

People forget that Camby had a consistent 18ft jumper and didn't just relay on the "alley-oop".
..and the second bold. Couldn't agree more. Personally, I am unimpressed by what I've seen so far from both Grimes and McBride (of course, expectations were already low considering they were both low draft picks) and don't understand the call for them to get more minutes, and in some cases, start an NBA game.

And blocks, and lower gravity center and muscles and unbelievable d for a rookie who just got his first NBA mins. Yes, like Dudley except for some minor diffences

Your the guy frequently calling for Grimes.
sims vs. Mitch.
I remember when mitch jumped after everything too.
Sims was drafted because he has great athletic abilty. So was mitch.
Let the man get into shape and be healthy. Sims after 4 years at texas is raw. we all know you want to shit on Mitch but sims has a way to go.

Ah, perhaps with such stark difference you’d notice the sarcasm staring at you?
I miss it sometimes too.

lolz
I don’t think a guy like Dudley could even be in the nba today
