But even better. Nice, quick release and reliable defense. Classic 3&D with upside to be more. He’s a good player. The young picks in the last 3 season (Barrett, IQ, Toppin, Grimes, McBride, and Sims) have a great chance to turn into a group of great complimentary players. Still holding out hope that Randle eventually figures it out. Fournier I’m not sure. The Knicks really screwed up not giving DeRozan a big contract to take the pressure of of Randle. Knicks need to find that big missing piece without putting a big dent in the core of young guys. It’s easy to get down on this group because the vets aren’t doing their part but the young guys are showing flashes.

Said it before that he reminds me of Alan Houston. With defense. He is the perfect type of player that I feel we should have. Constant movement, quick decisions, solid shooter and high motor. If we have five guys that can play their position with this much energy and professional shot making, we would be a chip contender.
If we not winning a chip this year, why not blow it up and let grimes and company run the show. It would do this franchise justice in the long run to play the yoots and trade the vets. Just shows you we didn’t need EF and Kemba since we already had grimes and McBride with rose and IQ also capable PGs.
This trade deadline is a way to fix it. Out FO is creative enough to move up and down the draft board, while still landing who we target. I’m sure they can find a trading team. Don’t need Kemba but we need Turner. Not ready to trade our yoots away, but just the vets and draft picks for small trades.
Who will you sit for Grimes?

Dude enough with DeRozan talks. We are all soooo damn upset that EF is not as good spotting up as Bullock was. We complain that he does too much other useless stuff with the ball and needs the ball to be effective. And we complain about his D. Well DeRozan is even worse at spotting up, if he doesn't have the ball in his hands he is useless ( he is ISO king btw) and he is not really a defender we need at that position, besides ppl cringe when Randle shoots from midrange, well pretty much all of DeRozan's points come from the midrange ISO. It's does not compliment Randle. DeRozan is someone who you have INSTEAD of Randle, not together alternating mid range ISO crap

Yeah I agree but he sure seems to be fitting with the ball dominate LaVine. It is what it is. There’s still time for Fournier to figure it out and Knicks to make moves. Plenty of flexibility with picks too. We can’t overreact.
Mitch founier and kemba..had nothing to do with the success the knicks had last yr and everything to do with the knicks struggles this yr.
Derozen avg 4+ assist is still more than any pg we have.

Yeah you’re right, we have 3 players starting at the beginning of the season that don’t seem to work with what worked last year. DeRozan would have been the move. I’ll still hold out that maybe Fournier can figure it out, but not looking good. He just needs to find that Olympic and opening game mojo.

The reason they are effective with LaVine is because those two play very effective PnR and PnP with each other. Results in mid range shots and cuts to the basket. Something that I have been wanting us to run with Randle and RJ. But we don't. And we would not with DeRozan. He would be left to ISO over here like every other player.
Thibs said day one everyone gets an opportunity and that injuries happen. So does stomach flu, colds, and now Covid.
Last year they all got a chance.
You have to earn it. He been working Grimes in here and there.
Does he stick in rotation? We’ll see.
As bad as our last offseason was with contracts(Randle, EF, Rose) we are still killing it in the draft

And do what? Trade picks to dump him and ready to start Grimes after one start? Think thats a bit of a logical move or an emotional fanboy move who craves change? you lose picks, and you don’t now that Grimes is the answer.
Nobody here goes far to make a case with analytics or understands the full scope of the decision. We think we can do better or at least match the losing with our suggestions. “Being right” is important.
Nalod would welcome any change that turns this thing around. But give props to a fan who throw out 20 things and one sticks without any accountability to the other 19 things that were not unique and change the outcome?
Elf was a glue guy. Evident to the winning. I have no issue with us moving on. same with EF signing outside shooting vs Derozen. 25 games in the dynammic of the Bulls vs knicks is not the same. Way different constructions. Its not working here and randle looks awful. whats the response? Think Reggie was the missing piece? RJ is the SF. We needed a SG. EF is not panning out but the idea was decent. The execution is not there yet if to be. Blow it up? Thats not logical. Get Dolan to make a dumb move? Thats logical. Think the media is helping shape ideas by fueling anger?
Its sucks. But read the aggregate of many posts. Blow it up, dump thibs, get a star/savior, Dump Randle, etc. Derozen looks good with Vooch and Lavine with a ball distributer in Lonzo. They are “win now” and the reality is they traded their long future and we grade it a success after 25 games because we are fading. I get it.

Knicks need to stick with Fournier for better or for worse. He was a commitment and 27 games still isn’t enough to make a definite determination for the future. But having Grimes whether starting or off the bench long term is a great piece to have. If Grimes becomes that 3&D player we lacked who fits like a glove with Randle and Barrett, and Fournier fits more as a bench scorer with more freedom to make plays, than it’s a huge win and Fournier can still be worth his contract.

Well said and more rooted to reality.

Well than the coaching staff needs to do something about it, because he looks lost out there.
I praise the coaching staff last season, but this season the game plan sucks.
