Is a disastrous bust. How do we get out of it????
First, don't panic. But I guess we are already past that point.
It’s rough but there’s a long season to go and a good stretch of winnable games coming up. I think we still have a better record than this point last year right ?
BRIGGS wrote:Is a disastrous bust. How do we get out of it????
who's salary are you thinking about?
Randle
Fournier
Walker
Burks
I am there with thinking - wow, this is bad.
I still think Randle can perform like last year. I don't think that is homerism or naivety.
I think this is very common, the result of immense pressure to perform. There is no guarantee, but he might get past this. My hope is Thibs will help.
Fournier has shown flashes and is probably the worst contract we signed. Can he be traded? Probably- so it's not a completely awful contract like we have had in the past.
Walker is 2 years. I still have faith he can contribute.
Burks - totally seems worth it.
The big problem I see from today - Kevin Knox can shoot! We can't let him walk for nothing.
And Briggs - how do we get out of it?
well - realize we're not as bad as the Jets & Giants - who just gave up a long touchdown before the half.
We have our own draft pick - and this team has really done a good job of drafting. Maybe this is our David Robinson year, and next year, Randle has his moment of Zen, RJ hits the gym and we bust it out next year with young stud PG we nab in the draft?

we are 1 game better than last year.

Plus with more games remaining due to the normal schedule I assume ? It’s not ideal, but this team can go on a run. But at some point Randle and Fournier need to get their acts together.

I don’t think this team has a run in him, and that is getting ahead of us.
I just want to see energy, effort, grit and some smarts.
I would like to see the young guys, especially Kevin Knox. Is he going to turn into a serviceable player if he leaves here? Find out first.

Guys can certainly turn things around but haven't the Knicks seen Knox for 3+ years ongoing?

Because he went 5/12 from beyond the arc today? lol...this is why I can't take some of you guys seriously

Yes. The question about Knox was one of motor. If he plays with IQ, Grimes- does he show enough that we can trade him? Do we want to keep him? Has his motor gotten better sitting under Thibs. Some players when faced by the stark reality of getting bounced find their personal Jesus. I read DSjr has contributed - again, short sample- but before we lose him for nothing, lets please find out if we can recoup his value.

Just cause guys haven't played under Thibs doesn't mean they can't contribute. We've been screaming for Obi to get time.
And yes - I get Knox has been around- but he was drafted with an eye on his offensive game. And if he turns into a 6'9" Hubert Davis, that is decent value for where he was picked.
Put Knox out there- maybe he shines a little bit and we can trade him and Kemba? Who knows. But it seems like a lost opportunity to just release Knox end of this year and get nothing from him.
Front office got taken like it has been for 20 years.
We are married to a lot of Money for role players.
The more troubling aspect is this money is stuck for 2-3 years to players who have no chance of winning a chip.

All traceable assets. Now it’s time for Rose to come up with a trade that benefits this season while keeping the youth movement going
Fournier is the new Howard eisley
We have a bunch of tradable contracts and solid players who haven't mesh well together
A trade shouldn't be difficult.
We need a big that can stretch the floor, until that happens we're are avg.
At least a center with energy and will run the floor for easy buckets. Our centers are the last man down court every time..
You can't run PnR with them and they can't space the floor, and the fact that both have been on the bench at the same time, is so telling

Briggs this isn’t the last 20 years. These are easy contracts to move. Won’t require picks to attach either. We have a surplus of first round picks and short term guaranteed contracts. Plus young guys who can play. We lack a star to carry the load. Randle can be really good but clearly requires the right circumstances. We need more. A couple of good trades and everything changes. We aren’t tied to anything on this team.

A replay of that good season we had then we traded for Bargs in the offseason based on what happened in the playoffs (thought we needed a stretch 4) and somehow lost the entirety of our team chemistry.
To be fair, as most of us saw at the time, there were not many options for good upgrades this past offseason- we could either bring back everyone at higher salary (no guarantee we wouldn't have slumped judging by how Randle and RJ regressed and Bullock absolutely stinks this year in Dallas).
Lonzo already had a deal with the Bulls (see tampering charges, plus he wanted to be a Bull for a long time)
Lowry already had a deal with the heat (plus think he'll age quickly after this season)
No way we would have been happy giving up a pick and paying the money DeRozan got
Pretty much everyone stayed home or got overpaid.
We dished out short contracts for future flexibility, which caps who you can get (understandably so).
We tried upgrading, it didn't work out, but we have our picks, we can move most players- regret that Randle extension though!
BRIGGS wrote:Is a disastrous bust. How do we get out of it????
Trade Randle’s contract for picks
Try to dump EF’s contract on OKC, unfortunately will cost us picks
Rose - forget it nobody wants that contract

And that's how we get out of "disastrous bust" of a season? Making sure we maybe get two 2nd round picks for Knothead Knox?
Thibs has a short leash on Obi, who's got 5 times the game Knox has. You think Thibs is suddenly going to start coaching in order to showcase Knox for the league while he stands on the court forgetting who he's supposed to be guarding or what direction to move on a switch?
If half the team wasn't out on protocols, we wouldn't even be seeing Knox.
