Knicks · Robinson off the bench so far has been incredible (page 1)
But beyond that we have the players here as is to be good.
It’s up to thibs to get the player rotations right. But I think Noel starting with Robinson off the bench is a lock
I also think we should reconsider not playing kemba. Too good to bench. Defense seemed fine last night
We get back 5 good players— we just need to get the chemistry right
Does that mean Barrett too bench? Not sure
But it’s bthink we still have the pieces to be a good team
We’re Bette than 13-17
Let me see mitch play like that for a month, then we can have a discussion .
His stamina has been an issue since day 1, still can't pass, run, shoot, post up, or rebound.
I would still prefer to see a starting unit of
Randle
Rj
Burks
Fourmier
Kemba
This way Randle has shooters all around him and you can't just double him every time he touches the ball
Mitch or Noel
Obi
grimes
IQ
rose
Mitch is not much of a rim runner, but he at least runs harder with the bench unit than the starters.
I would still include noel or Mitch for Turner in any trade package

I don't know how people work and how a thought process goes from head to utterance, but preferring something that will literally never happen is just a wasted thought.
Thibs just won't go for it so why even contemplate it?

Actually your wrong, the last game before RJ got covid, he played that exact line up in the 4th quarter against the Raptors
If you don't start with that unit, its a line up that you can used at any point depending on the match ups.
A traditional center is a thing of the past, and a tradition PG is a thing of the past, those 2 positions have got to be able to slide to the PF or SG.
In our case every pg guard we have (grimes, rose, kemabe, Mcbride) can play off the ball at the 2g.
Mitch and Noel are traditional centers, how can you invest money in duplicate players, its like Having Rondo as a starter and Elf as a back up

In NBA2k, I like this lineup and might try it when I get home. This works on a video game because you control Randle's defense and for the most part, Randle's defense on xbox will look better than real life.
Did you even watch the entire game? Mitch impact goes beyond stats. This is where analytics will get you in trouble, just like it did for Thibs, when he decided to bench Kemba. You have to look at the game and really focus on how Mitch impacted the game. Randle would NEVER provide what Mitch can provide. And at this point, I think it's wrong to even make Randle the focal point. I'm convince, Randle is a great complimentary piece. He's not a center or SF unfortunately, like most PFs today. But Randle can dominate the PF spot.
You seems to think Basketball is all about offense, and this is where I disagree. You can win games on defense alone. And during the playoffs, you need that half court rim protector, especially this team, since Fournier and Kemba continue to escort their man to the rim. I'm glad we had Mitch back there waiting, instead of Randle. If Randle played center, we would've lost yesterday.
I think swapping Noel for Turner and have Turner start would do wonders for this team and for Randle. I rather keep Mitch and add a jump shooting center. Gibson is also a keeper, along with Rose. They will follow Thibs and Thibs trust them. Noel is the one we can trade. I like Noel, but I think Turner would open the flow better. And Mitch / Turner combination will give Thibs a lot of lineup flexibility. Plus Turner is top 5 in blocks I believe.

we have a losing record, slowest pace in the NBA....Mitch and Noel have proven to be unreliable
We would have stuck with bullock and Payton if defense matter that much, even wally said in last nights telecast that a good offense will always beat a good defense...You can't defend speed and ball movement....see the Suns, see the GSW
Go ahead and name the TOP 16 NBA centers in the league and tell me which one is Mitch or noel better than.
This is a small ball league everybody and they mother knows that.
Go look at the 2022 NBA mock Draft, there's like 2 centers in the entire 1st rounds and less than 6 in the entire 60 player draft, and all of them can shoot perimeter shots
https://www.nbadraft.net/nba-mock-drafts...
If the game is about pace and space, how do they contribute to that?

It's called position less basketball. And I've said this years ago, the center and PG positions will be extinct. Which means, the nba is slowly going away from centers and typical pass first PG, to position less players.
Detroit is an example of position less nba players. And Mitch handled them pretty easy and looked like an all-star against Detroit. So even though we are going away from centers and PGs, doesn't mean that's a permanent thing. I believe it only takes an old school center to dominate. Or an old school PG like Paul to dominate. In fact, the Suns currently have the best record and their team is built around an old school center and PG. So it really depends. I think the Suns is showing the NBA how affective you can be with a slow rim protector and Chris Paul. It's a copy cat league and eventually the Suns will force teams to rethink their roster.

Last night he played like Capella did vs. us in the playoffs last year. Mitch straight up won the game for us. Everyone else was a push at best

Ayton is a #1 picks and nowhere near a traditional Center, and he has the luxury of having a HOF pg( who most knicks fans didn't want to trade for), and a super star SG, who is deadly from the perimeter..
Even when CP played with D Jordan on the clippers, how for did they get.
You want to know why the Lakers struggle, D Howard, D Jordan, and a Defense Coach with no offensive creativity
You want to know why the Knicks struggle Mitch, Noel and a Defensive coach with no offensive creativity.
If you can't play at least 2 positions in the NBA your Toast, a bench player that can easily be replace, we saw that last yr on the knicks, and You saw A/D play center and win a chip doing it

Fish mike Robinson was awful 3 weeks ago! He’s lost weight he’s playing with great energy off the bench — looks like a great spot for him and the team. With Noel out I’d consider starting summits and keep Robinson as the bench player albeit w more minutes
BRIGGS, I'm just wondering, are you bipolar?
Howsabout we tone it down a bit and notch this up to maybe MitchRob's responding slightly positively to getting benched for Look Ma, no hands Noel and is also trying to avoid playing behind Methuselah Gibson.
Not enough IQ to start.
Yesterday, Randle & Kemba refuse to feed MitchRob down low which would've given the Knicks a 20 pt win.
Getting the ball inside to MitchRob the Knicks would've shot 54% FG, instead of 44% FG.

Another factor with him coming off the bench is teams have to make so many adjustments. They can’t just drive to the basket or rely on guys on the perimeter to create their own shots
