They need a defensive anchor. Kemba, Fournier, Barrett and Randle will likely be the 1-4 for the foreseeable future and you live and die with the offense/defense trade-off. If you can’t control the paint than you waste these big Kemba games. Turner can control the paint and then on offense be a perimeter threat and let Randle have the space to operate downlow where he doesn’t have to worry about turning into a double team every time. Our centers are liabilities on offense and don’t bring it consistently enough on defense. I’m happy to bring back Mitch as a backup where he can be a great lob threat and run with the young guys. Turner makes way too much sense on both ends with the way this team is currently structured. Offer Obi, Noel and picks. Whatever gets you there within reason. He’s only 25 so the long term fit is there too. We aren’t talking about just a quick fix. There is rarely a player so perfect and gettable for this team as Turner is now.

We all realize the backcourt is not as good defensively, not even close. Which is why I will go back to the original topic, get Myles Turner to anchor your defense and you can at least fix some of the defensive concerns to some extent.

Randle and EF couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn from 3 point range yesterday. That killed our spacing, Washington Bullets were able to stay comfortably in the zone the entire game
Make 3’s and passing lanes will start to open up

Google Myles Turner trades and there’s a million of them. Most involve a young player of less value than them and a future first. Essentially Obi and a first seems to be about the consensus going value. Also don’t forget he only has 1 year remaining on his contract which lowers his value.

The pacers aren’t trading Turner for similar value. they got back Sabonis and Oladipo for PG3

This all or nothing mentality will always perplex me. I get they aren’t playing well but you don’t throw in the towel and rebuild after 30 games. You have to have patience and look for ways to get better without hitting the reset button every time things aren’t going well.
