You got a smile so bright
You know you could've been a candle…
Well you could've been anything that you wanted to
I can tell
The way you do the things you do
-The Temptations
Leaders determine the playing personality … and the pace.
Note how ALL the Knicks players (yutes included), whether on the court or on the bench, CELEBRATED his triple double. Not for the stats… for his positive vibe throughout the entire ‘benching’ episode. For his leadership by example. Game respects game.
Kemba never pouted. He handled his business like a professional.
Kemba is evey New Yorker who gets up early and rides The Subway to work.
Kemba Walker IS New York.
His love of the game, and the city, is a portrait of any person who ever shouted “who got next?” at a playground.
I CELEBRATED the Kemba Walker additionI was pissed off about wasting our cap space on EVAN FOURNIER.
But then we signed KEMBA WALKER.
And I became A++ excited about our offseason.
I couldn't stop posting his highlight videos.
I couldn't stop raving about Kemba Walker making the ALL-STAR TEAM (4 out of the previous 5 seasons) as a starting PG.
I couldn't stop posting about how Kemba Walker led Boston to the Eastern Conference Finals as an elite PG.
And I couldn't stop bragging about how Kemba Walker has a head to head record of 3-1 All-Time vs. TRAE YOUNG.
I knew 100% that Kemba Walker was made in NEW YORK and BUILT for Madison Square Garden!
Coach Thibs knew what he was doing by benching Kemba Walker. Coach Thibs was playing chess (not checkers). He wanted to light a fire under Kemba's ass (and that he did). And why? Because he's one of only 5 NBA head coaches (All-Time) who've ever won multiple Coach of the Year awards.
And ever since coach Thibs threw Kemba Walker back into his rotation and as a starter too?
Kemba Walker himself has RESPONDED.
And in a MAJOR way too.
Kemba Walker throughout these previous 4 games has played confident. Aggressive. Has been a leader. And has backed down from no one; just how coach Thibs has envisioned the entire time. Thibs knew what he was doing.
Kemba Walker is NYC born and raised and now he's back home in the Mecca; and he's built for this.
Kemba Walker since his return (4 games) has averaged 40 minutes per game with an average of 26.0 points, 7.0 assists, 8.3 rebounds and only 1.0 turnovers per game. He's also shooting .395% from 3.
Gotta love it!
