This is obviously setting up another trade.
Obi is going to be moved shortly. He’s playing 10 minutes a night and Thibs doesn’t like him.
IQ, Obi, two firsts probably to Sac for Fox or some combination.

It's weird to have us do a trade where it looks like we pulled off a daylight robbery!
Wonder what our next move is- we must have something up our sleeves to free up playing time
I feel like we did the same thing in the Rose trade
TRUE
Not to overly gloat on that one, but is DSmithJr in China yet? LOL

At least we did not give up a lot, but hard to see where Cam fits into the rotation, whereas Knox just sat at the end of the bench. Probably the real reason was to make RJ happy ahead of re-signing him and give Knox a fresh start ahead of his contract year.
Could be a trade before a bigger trade. Maybe we move Fournier next.
AND IQ may become the starting PG.
I think you're right about a near future move coming... I suspect it will include Toppin and others (Fournier, IQ, Kemba, Noel or Mitch). Know some here think Fox (Sac) or Brunson are the PG candidates - but again I would pay more for Haliburton as Fox and Randle playing together are like a vette and a minivan on a long road trip together.

I can see Burks being a piece we move. He's been terrific for us and has a very reasonable deal. But you've got to give up something of value in order to get anything decent in return. At least most of the time, anyways...

Who goes to backup 4 if we trade Obi? No big deal because Randle plays the big minutes, unless randle goes out for any length of time.

Zion.
Please don't trade Obi...
Someone has got to get a mic in front of Zion.
All Leon needs to do now is announce Coach K is coming on as an assistant next season...

It’s a wait and see. I’d rather of held out the 1 for a pg
Cam plays defense and can guard 3 positions. He's also had breakout games on offense and has the ability to get to the rim. Knox has only shown proficiency as a spot up 3 point shooter so far. predicting that NY fans are gonna love what Cam brings.

Portland, so halfway there
What is not to like about Obi? He's been playing better this season and seems to produce well for the minutes he sees. Is this just a case of not being Julius or is there a defect in his game?

Yeah, and looking at his game logs, someone in Portland's already donated his airfare.
ok so how do we get him 25 minutes when Knox wasn't even part of the rotation
Knicks now have 6 sg (Grimes, RJ, Burks, Fournier, IQ Cam )in rotation

I was wondering about Cam's defense. A quick glance at their D stats doesn't show a whole hell of alot of difference between them. Hopefully Thibs gets more out of Cam than he could out of Knox. He's certainly got more offensive chops.
Wow, Mitch is all that's left from the prior FO regime...
I have been thinking the Knicks could swipe Cam since last year. I think he is underrated. He had two issues - one he has been hurt a lot and can't get consistent run in his career as a result and the other is Atlanta has a ton of guys on the wing with similar talent, but more specialization / one strong skill.
Reddish gives us another creative scorer and bringing in an old buddy for Barrett is helpful. Also Solomon Hill had his uses as a wing defender (assuming we keep him).
Knicks staff can work with this

He can't create offense. 80% of his shots are assisted. Randle at 47%. So Randle can create while Obi hasn't shown as much ability to create for himself. Not saying he can't do it, but we haven't seen much of it. It's a shame about Kemba because I thought he would unlock OBI's game more.

Same arguments made that the Derrick Rose trade would block IQ, etc.
Very short sighted IMHO
