RJ in the month of January is clutch, elite defense, and doing it all.
This kid makes incremental improvements. December Thibs said he needs to get in the gym and work after being sick. Fans thought he was loafing. He was sick. Then got COVID. Since then he has been elite two way player.

I hope the Blow up Bing Bongers take a moment and just take this in. A lottery pick, 21 and playing at this level this season. Sustainable? Lets see. There is more consistency in the stretch. I know some of you are tender and don't want to get your hopes up high. But this is what we wanted! Perhaps it would be nice to get it out of the gate but we played this kid from day one and he has done nothing but mostly improve each month. Not each game, or week, but month to month he adds more to this game.

I doubt he has hit his ceiling yet. I won't call it either. Im just enjoying it.
The baton is being passed to Randle to RJ.

RJ corrected his earlier issue of trying to be too much of a jumpshooter. He now realizes his bread and butter is driving to the lane, and he is consistently putting pressure on the defense. His ability to finish at the rim has improved.
NYKMentality @ 1/23/2022 4:13 PM
He's only 21.

Just wait until he's 24-26 and 100% developed and fully polished.

Multiple X and perennial All-Star within the makings.

Knixkik @ 1/23/2022 5:57 PM
Thanks for bringing attention to something positive. Barrett is trending towards star level if he can get this level of play down more consistently. There’s a world where he develops into this star, the Knicks coaching staff finds the magic formula with Reddish too, and Randle can sort of transition into that 3rd option and be a playmaking, well-rounded big without the pressure of being a star. Mitch is turning a corner (health permitting) and the PG continues to be the generational question mark here, but I still believe in the foundation of this team. And it definitely starts with Barrett.

All good! No need for more narrative and his future. Look at him to day. Big defense down the stretch (I saw the TO, it happens too!). Hit all his FT. Big rebounds. Shooting and Power. Thick build that his durable and just 21.

What becomes of Reddish is way unknown, as is for the others. rj is not Jordan, or Kobe, and not very flashy.
Just take a moment and enjoy this journey.

we waited years for this.

What are you talking about?? Trade everyone! All our FA's suck! Thibs needs to go! RJ has no other level. Randle sucks! Oh wait this is not Saturday?
Oh nevermind...... Knicks Rule!!!

Wait until tomorrow's back to back is over!!!

Then... tank TANK TANK

Unless the Cavs choke, then it will be BARRETT FOR MVP, our FO got us the Dynamic Duke Duo! Zion is on the way!
RJ's latest stat: Knicks are 23-0 in all games when RJ gets more rebounds that 57% of the opposing players when RJ is also dunking left handed!!! RJ is the only 21 to get as many double doubles as any other knick who's first name starts with an "R"

Joy JOY JOY!!!

To be honest, he did this in college. So we knew he had it in him. If a well respected Duke coach puts the ball in RJs hands and say your the leader, go make it happen. Meanwhile #1 Zion scouts are watching, with a high potential player in Cam on the team, taking notes. The question for me was not if but when. I wasn't worried about RJ, I was more concerned about this BING BONG culture becoming a poision environment for him. But one good thing about this NYC culture, it either MAKES YOU or BREAKS YOU.

Looks like RJ and Randle both had a great game, so hopefully this is a turning point in their knick career, thanks to the BING BONGERs booing him. Now they switched their MVP chants to RJ. Love it.

So let me get this straight. Reddish goes from cast off traded for Knox to this team's Robin?

Doubt it but stranger things have happened. Julius is twice cast off before he became a Knicks player, still stunk his first year and then voila.

Magic is in the work. Reddish got a lot of work to do

I get that. Inflating the narrative over and over again only to get mad when it does not happen is the Knick fan way. Its like NYMentality’s lists and going off on the next wins as counted. It don’t always happen then he needs to “Quit” as he is crushed like a choir boy after being forced to blow the priest.
Then he yells at me cuz I won’t numerate my Favorite Knick this season!

Hope is a strong emotion. We grow up over time to understand hard work and patience is a grind and progress is not easy to measure. The Bing Bongers are fun, but they are stoned, drunk, and basically a sort of happy mob just all engrossed in joy of victory. Funny as hell but…………..dare I say, gotta grow up one day. You reach an age where you have to leave your parents basement and the ewing jersey just don’t look good good on hairy arms anymore.

Exactly. Like with Randle, it’s not a talent issue with Reddish. He’s only 22 years old.

Forgot to mention that the trash teams that we lost to and caused all this panic had beaten some decent teams and playing well.
Pels beat the Warriors and Clip
Timberwolves just beat the Nets and Warriors
Hornets just beat the Sixers, Bucks twice, and Celts.

Our PG's are hurt, our main piece had some bad games but yeah, we take things in perspective.

NYKMentality @ 1/24/2022 9:47 AM
What R.J. Barrett is doing at only 21 years old is amazing.

I can not wait to watch him once he's 24-26 years old and both 100% developed and fully polished.

He'll become a perennial All-Star without question.

More JOY:

Barrett had a nice open look was not awful. Lets be real, the ball swung to the open man. Even Randle did not force it. He drew the defender. Barrett was not down hill and would have driven in to the paint and not assured a call. We can second guess it as we lost the game. Im pulling a positive that we did not just iso.

And….

Grimes in the stretch was good!!

OBI hit 3 treys!!
