I’ve been a member here since 2001 and saying it every year since. Kemba’s entire positive contribution has come in 1 week this season. Kemba clearly isn’t the answer as a starter. If the Knicks wanted to do something unorthodox they could take turns between drose and Kemba when they are both healthy in the 6th man role to keep them both fresh. Otherwise Kemba obviously doesn’t have a legit role here if it isn’t off the bench. Obviously Brunson is a realistic option, particularly as a free agent. Dejounte Murray and De’Aaron Fox are the 2 pie in the sky options. Collin sexton maybe could be a similar but more consistent alternative to Kemba. He gives a better defensive player and proven scorer but runs the similar risk of not being the perfect fit for Randle and Barrett. This is a chronic Knicks problem. Every PG who is supposed to be the answer turns to dust here. When will we solve this problem ? We don’t need a star. Championships aren’t won at the PG position. But we need a longterm solution at this position.

Yup and it’s a great thing. I have no problem turning the keys over to him. Just need to compliment him with the right PG who can play on and off the ball.
They need a shooting big man also, what Kevin Love did for the Cavs.
He broke open the entire game. We have horrible spacing because our bigs including Randle can not hit a three reliably

If you play Reddish in place of Toppin you probably get some of that. If not, have to go out and get Turner as a starter or Wood or Olynyk as the backup center.
I think you need to see what it take for Brunson.
Burks and IQ? I like quick but he’s a tweener.

There’s a lot of combinations that can get us there. I’m guessing any trade includes returning to them their 2023 first, which opens up a ton of options for them.
If Barrett ends up replacing Randle as the #1 guy and gets his 22-24 ppg at similar efficiency as last season and Randle gets his 18-20 ppg at worse efficiency as last season, then you are still ok if you can get more from the supporting cast, particularly the starters. Fournier is what he is. He will have good games and bad. The center position has been unreliable health wish but ok when it’s healthy. The PG position is the x-factor. Payton was trash but catered to Randle. Walker is better sometimes but hurts us defensively and also with the fact that he hasn’t developed any chemistry with anyone else. Need someone who can be reliable on both ends and find some chemistry with the best players on the team. For all of Randles faults, he’s still a big man that needs a guard to make life easy for him. Walker hasn’t done that once.

I would say Kemba, Toppin and their 2023 first for Brunson and either Bullock or Powell. There’s so many combinations.
Brunson with Rose, IQ, and McBride as depth, and Jokubaitis in the mix too changes the outlook of the PG position in my opinion. It’s a good mix of pieces that make sense.

Cuban might not have a choice. Brunson is an impending free agent. Knicks can easily negotiate early thru his father. If Brunson wants to go home to the Knicks than a deal will be made.

Plus the majority of those they are likely not getting mid season.
I just want the knicks yearly starting point guard problem to fimally be resolved in this trade deadline. I dont mind to get a point guard abit older than the young core 27-28 years old. There is still a chance Deuce, IQ, Rokas can develop into the point guard of the future for the knicks. Id be happy if we get any of these at a ready price Fox,Murray and Brunson. And as a bonus include Burks or/and Evan in any trade. The knick need to give Cam a fair shot.

Cuban has a choice. He can choose to pay Brunson and Finney Smith and pay luxury tax or just blow it up essentially. If you know how Cuban operates that’s not his style. He’ll go into the luxury tax

Of course he will. But what if Brunson wants to leave ?
Why are people willing to give up so much for a half a season of Brunson when he will be a UFA and can leave us without compensation.
