Knicks · John Wall? (page 1)

MS @ 1/27/2022 11:55 AM
The Knicks have a problem and that problem is too many guys that are mediocre playing in front of our young talent.

Wall has arguably the worst contract in the league outside of Westbrook, but it’s off the books after next season.

Would you trade Kemba, Fournier, Burks, Gibson or Noel (one would need to be included) for Wall?

It would allow the Knicks to get off of year 3/4 of Fourniers deal and give the rotation a little more balance. If he gets hurt it is what it is… but

Wall/Rose
Grimes/IQ
RJ/Reddish
Randle/Obi
Mitch

If it’s not this move, we need something similar to stop Thibs from the same lineups that are going to keep us in the 10-13 seed range…

knicks1248 @ 1/27/2022 12:09 PM
You must have been the Fan that called in on KnickFANTV last night and proposed this same trade or very similar and they Hung up on you.

This is an awful IDEA

MS @ 1/27/2022 12:22 PM
The alternative is what exactly?

Watch Thibs keep play Kemba, Fournier in the starting lineup and lose every first quarter and third quarter?

This team is ready to melt down. Randle is literally dying about to fold. Look at this numbers since the thumbs down game.

They need to do something to lose 3-4 guys. Is there something else out there that make more sense?

Fournier for Buddy Hield? (Works)

ATL is being proactive, we need to be as well.

Uh, continuing to build the future as opposed to mortgaging it? Continue to accumulate young players with upside along with assets. Not blowing a self induced wad on all stars from 2017.

BUT I WANT TO WIN NOW!

Waah.

MS @ 1/27/2022 12:32 PM
How is acquiring Wall without giving up any young talent mortgaging the future?

It puts Grimes in the starting lineup, it frees up the bench to get looks at Deuce and Reddish and gets rid of another big which we don’t necessary need.

More of RJ at the 4 spot is also a win.

Win now? This team can’t win now, but we can continue to play guys like Burks, Fournier and Kemba? None of the guys i mentioned have real value around the league.

Rookie @ 1/27/2022 12:44 PM
I missed the part where we give Houston a first rd pick for our salary dump. So no, I am not trading any more 1st rd picks
SergioNYK @ 1/27/2022 1:20 PM
I'd do Randle for Wall tbh.

Wall is Kemba , you think he's going to come here and be this healthy player he never was.

Why would you saddle half your cap with a part time player that no team is interested in

smackeddog @ 1/27/2022 2:06 PM
trading for Wall or Westbrook only makes sense as a salary dump to get out of Randle and Fournier's longer contracts (plus throw in Kemba's), and to clear some space for the younger players. Problem is it takes you out of the trade market next season because their annual salary is so high, and we'd essentially lose all our smaller contracts apart from Burkes, Rose and Noel

Dumping players for cap space clearly hasn't worked

Playing young guys in a losing environment hasn't worked...

MS @ 1/27/2022 4:14 PM
So dumping players that don’t fit together is a bad decision? Do we need another first if we have our own and Dallas’s extra picks.

Wall actually wasn’t terrible last year and he’s better than Kemba.

Rotations are going to be better for the young guys with players out of the equation. Thibs has been fucking horrible this year. He’s going to play his vets and leave Randle out there all game and we are going to finish 11th in the conference regardless.

Rose blew the cap apart this offseason till 2023 so if one player is holding all the cap it doesn’t matter. There is no one to trade for. Damian Lillard is injured and aging by the day. KAT isn’t going anywhere.

There is no path here.

IMO the young guys are already getting PT with Noel and Rose out and Kemba in an out.

I don't think any change in the roster will change the fact that THIBS lacks creativity from an offensive stand point.

Jimbo5 @ 1/27/2022 8:50 PM
Hmmm... John wall will be under the contract until next year. Next year he could be traded as an expiring contract. Not much risk i guess. It might not be that bad of an idea if the knicks get him but it should be treated as a salary dump. Is there a way to include Christian Woods?

Trade Randle, walker, Evan, burks and even Noel to make the salary match.

Possible starting 5

Mitch
Woods
Rj
Grimes
Wall

Not for nothing but Kemba, Burks, Gibson and Noel are all expiring contracts next year too.

The last 4 years Wall has played 41, 32, 0 and 40 games, so pretty much he is in the Kemba territory of not being able to play games.

And now you have come full circle lol

You don't even need to do the trade, just sit guys. It's literally the same thing but with Wall instead of Kemba and zero depth, right?

Houston has made a commitment to a rebuild add the Knicks players doesn’t do much for them. Put it this way it’s easier to carry one big contract and sit him then having 3-4 players added and sitting them.

The mirror test fails this again. The only way Kemba could be worth less right now is if he blew out both knees, EF is attractive because why, exactly? and Gibson and Noel you're giving to Houston because what, we're out of coffee? Houston's going to rebuild with our flotsam and an overpriced SG who can't shoot consistently?

I would imagine Houston wants draft picks or our yoots, not just salary match trade machine fodder... and I don't want to give up either for Wall at this point.

MS @ 1/29/2022 12:45 AM
Honestly why did we just give a first round pick for reddish?

I would much rather get off all these veterans forma first and second. Doesn’t make any sense. Better rotations mean more trade value.

John Wall would be far better than what we have. And if he’s isn’t Rose starts and deuce backs him up. Problems in the rotation solved.

We are bad, very bad.

C'Mon man. Check Kemba and Wall's game logs for the past 3 seasons and tell me what you see. The only way to justify a Wall trade is to tank. Knicks record is too good for that to be a plan.

Fournier is in the discussion for one of the worst contracts in the NBA. He is in the Top 10

Yes.
Let's go back to the cycle of bringing in over-paid, oft-injured washed up former stars. It worked throughout the 2000's. Why not now?

SMDH.

Unfortunately in the midst of a struggle, the bing bong fans cannot see beyond the prison bars of the miserable moment. They need that sugar. Gasbag media will be feeding the empty calories to them. These are the loudest voices -- so far the FO has been ignoring them. Hope that maintains.
