Have to admit, I like the players we have but understand the chemistry does not work. 10 days to go before the deadline and no doubt rumors will be flying! I have no passions to rid of our players but understand our FO has choices to make. (Not “We” have choices to make).
Officially i’d like to see Kemba traded or he accepts a buyout to gain his freedom. Good for both.
Im on the fence with Mitch. We can still extend him now, or after FA starts. He is still but 23 and I like his potential still. At the same time I’d like a stretch 5 on the roster.
Such fun is the deadline in the age of social media. So many rumors, so little realty. More likely that we wake up on the 11th mad about deals we thought we could make but perhaps we are off base.
Thin skinned Randle vs. Thin Skinned Fans?
Thought this thru and im not sure whats up. Sure I get booing in response to paying top dollar to see a lackluster term performance. I get social media and the business of clicks to compensate writers so they pander to the upset fan. When Randle tells us thumbs down and STFU the fan was repulsed. Fans were aghast by this display of “disobedience”! “How dare he”……..Media validates this by perpetuating the narrative. Was it popular to call out the fan or the Player? How often does the media back a player?
Randle was our new guy. Build up a hero then tear him down! Naturally, we either accept him back after a flogging or “good riddence” in exile and hope he sucks/injured elsewhere so we don’t feel remorse. All the while the real issue is wins and losses.
Last season was great because Winning makes the past pain go away. No more KP issues. Randle made it all go away.
Now some are thinking we take him back for Kp? (Salary does not work).
Question becomes, if a player rejects criticism and we then hate on him because of it, who is thin skinned? The fan or the player?
I think we buy out Kemba. Let him go to a contender and chase a ring. We try and trade Burks or Fournier for a 1st round pick. Both moves free up time for Grimes, McBride, and Reddish. The only tricky issue will be Mitch. He is an unrestricted FA and I would not want to lose him for nothing. If we don’t already have a preliminary deal in place for us to resign him this summer, I would strongly consider trading him for a 1st round pick.

Good stuff. Like we think about brunson, why not wait until he is free this summer? Mitch will be also.
Players shake free every and somtimes you gotta let some walk. sometimes one can get compensation for said player but fact is there has to be a market.
I suppose we can just wait 10 days before passing judgement. We can extend him anytime still. up to 12.5mil I believe. Anyone want to correct me please chime in.
Brunson is due a nice raise. Good fit here. At what price?
Personally I am all for whatever moves build for the future and I'm sure the FO takes that as a primary consideration. However I cant's see Thibs -- the front of the organization -- bailing on a playoff run as long as we are in the running. So just cutting Kemba loose or similar moves seem unlikely to me. I suspect more a move that helps the team in the present. I'd only see trading Burks etc. in this context
ok, let the flood gates open
gonna sticky this thread for all the trades.
Good pickup for the Clips who if can get george back will be decent.
Blazers messed up got keeping Trent JR who is doing well in Toronto.
BTW, anyone notice Pascal Siakim makes 33 mill a season?
Both Paul George and Kawhi make 39mil a piece?
Knicks don’t have a big salary until you get to Randle at number 47th.
Bing Bong: Nothing will ever be good again.

Portland trying to push Lillard over the edge.

Yowzer, what a stinker of a deal for the Blazers, they must have another deal lined up surely. Nice move for the Clips, especially once Kawahi and PG get back next season
Windhorst was saying that D-Mitch and Gobert’s relationship has deteriorated again- Gobert’s contract is horrific if you look at his age and numbers
If we are going to trade for Fox the perfect trade is Randle and Kemba. Both of them make up the difference in Foxes contract. We don't lose any youth and we open up a space for the youth to play more.
Fox is a hard player for me to decide if he will help us or hurt us. I think of this sorta like the Lonzo Ball situation. People got so hung up on what Lonzo does not do that they were blinded to all the amazing things he does do. So I am trying to see if this is a similar situation with Fox. His bad shooting and not being an amazing passer(correct me if I am wrong here) is concerning. However, He plays at a pace much more beneficial to our young players. He can create his own shot and the attention he garners will open up things for our shooters and lob threats.
Edit: I also seen someone make a good point. Having Fox here with Rose being able to give him tips could be an underrated aspect of this trade.
So Harden forces his way out of Houston the the Nets, then forces his way out of the Nets to the Sixers.
Simmons next to great shooters like KD and Kyrie (eventually Harris) could work out nicely. Nets vs Sixers would be a fun series!
The way I look at the team is that there should be no lateral moves. Most of the contracts here set up where the only difference between today and 365 days from today is that a lot of the players will be a year closer to expiring, and maybe that's more valuable to a competitor who's going after it next year. Additionally, the players behind the players are in particularly good enough. For example, we shouldn't be trading Evan or Burks for Sense on the dollar just so cam reddish can have minutes.
Yes they should shop and see what they can get, but there's not much of a rush here.
The way Harden been playing for the Nets in their last 6 losses, I would've had Harden traded today before lunch.
The Cavs are not trading Jarrett Allen for Harden LOL
I still say the trade is Bullshuuuut! Because both teams are in the Atlantic Division !!!
How come the Knicks bench lineup has been performing better than the Knicks starter lineup all season?
Are the Knicks starter lineup design to get outscored on by every .500 record opponent?
Fans has been selecting one or two players are the problem in the starter lineup, coach Thibs selected Kemba as the problem, but couldn't come up with a solution to improve the starter lineup within 52 games.
Does the Knicks starter lineup today have the same problem as coach Fiz starter lineup ???
I find the Powell trade interesting. We supposedly coveted him and I can’t imagine we couldn’t offer a better package.
Pure speculation but it certainly is consistent with the notion we are looking at a bigger deal. Also consistent w notion Damian may be traded as he can’t be happy w the talent exodus. Not saying Damian is coming here but I wouldn’t be surprised either.

They are landlocked in many ways and needed to shed salary in any event. Its also possible Dame extends and eventually gets traded. Sequence of movement is not always “NOW”. HE needs to heal and needs to ponder the money might land him in a situation where if he is in decline he is then cap fodder like Westbrook/wall/Dragic or the likes.
PHilly might be game but not to saddle them down with a contract were him, and embiid start to break down. Joel can’t be long for the game much north of 30. Mobile bigs are rare and even more at over 30. Same for uberathletic Pgs. Dame is great. Just have to think of the endgame a bit.
Powell vs EF is that space. Powell traded from Toronto was with a promise from portland.
Once upon a time knicks had an aging backcourt of Monroe/Frazier and had to make a choice one had to go.
Knicks got in return a good player in Jim cleamons for clyde but he never shined under the lights while Earl continued well late in his career. No direct corelations here BTW.
covington is an expiring while Powells deal was longer than anyone they got in return. There is logic to what Portland did. Simons is a talent they need to resign and perhaps they need to figure a way to move McCallum with some sense of purpose.
At the end of the day, is a title worth 60-100Million dollars to Dame? Not all players need a title to complete them as humans. The philanthropic good one can do with that kind of scratch over the vanity of chasing a ring late in career is a personal choice. We are all wired differently. Some players chase glory. Others build hospitals. Some do both.

Length and size of the contract put us off- Knicks front office has their price and won't exceed it, same reason we (thankfully) gave up on Dinwiddie and Hayward

if that's the basis and they're exercising good discipline, then great. that said, they had all the reason for a mild panic purchase with the way this season is going.
somewhat ironic that Keon Johnson was our draft pick

In the end if Keon pans out the Blazers got cap space, longer and younger. If they did not see a future with Trent jr/Powell its a good move. This season is a wash for them.
Kind of move that allows a domino effect to begin a process of restoration. Small moves add up. This one does not move the dial. They dug a hole for themselves and have to start somewhere. With Olshy gone, is it a new direction or was this the plan all along?
