Pure speculation but it certainly is consistent with the notion we are looking at a bigger deal. Also consistent w notion Damian may be traded as he can’t be happy w the talent exodus. Not saying Damian is coming here but I wouldn’t be surprised either.

Length and size of the contract put us off- Knicks front office has their price and won't exceed it, same reason we (thankfully) gave up on Dinwiddie and Hayward

if that's the basis and they're exercising good discipline, then great. that said, they had all the reason for a mild panic purchase with the way this season is going.

somewhat ironic that Keon Johnson was our draft pick

In the end if Keon pans out the Blazers got cap space, longer and younger. If they did not see a future with Trent jr/Powell its a good move. This season is a wash for them.
Kind of move that allows a domino effect to begin a process of restoration. Small moves add up. This one does not move the dial. They dug a hole for themselves and have to start somewhere. With Olshy gone, is it a new direction or was this the plan all along?

Simmons looks like a good enough young piece I think they move CJ now. With that said the Knicks do not need CJ.

I wonder if the Clips would do Noel for either Ibaka or Covington- each are expiring and make slightly more than Noel (Covington would save them more this season and give the bigger luxury tax relief), and would ensure they have a C for next season (by which point hopefully Noel will have had surgery on his knee or whatever the issues).

I also like the rumour of Kemba to the hornets for ish smith (plus a small salary player to make the numbers work) and a second.

Reports from NBA executives states the Randle's trade value is at an all time low(not surprising) maybe killing the idea of a trade by Thursday. I have a strong feeling there won't be anymore trades involving the knicks through Thursday. The knicks are getting ready to buckle down and just to live or die with Randle, Burkes, Evan and kemba. Maybe thibs is just banking on Drose's return to make the team more watchable the rest of the year.

No one wants Randle’s contract it’s a disaster

He had a very good game on national tv. Problem is he has a 4 year $100 million deal starting next year and he has been same ole Randle the rest of the season

1000 nba players can play 1000 games and possibly none of them will do 32-16-7 other than absolute elite level.

Randle needs Mr. Myagi.

I haven’t given up hope, and have come to peace with giving him a pass this year.

Kemba and EF however… I’d be glad to see them replaced by younger players that are not a liability on defense.

111 mil over 4. Years. You should look at All NBA salaries and understand he did not extend for last years value. He signed for a 2nd or third best option on a good team. We are not that team yet.
It takes foresight and imagination to build out a team over time. Not instant results.
Knicks are trying to do what most teams attempt, be relevant while improving.

A lot of it is teams hate the Knicks. It’s ingrained in the culture of the NBA so teams are like “Randle isn’t good anymore” but he’s averaging 18/9/5 and there are guys in the league who can’t do that their whole careers. His contract isn’t bad for his production level either. Teams just see the situation and are trying to rob the Knicks.

The numbers are ok. It’ the lack of team play, sulky bad body language and obvious attitude that makes him undesirable in a trade. None of our off season moves are looking good. The multi year overpays are going to really screw us. Our cap situation and roster flexibility are very bad right now. It really makes our chances of making any kind of trade unlikely. Reality, chances are very high this is our team after the trade deadline. Maybe we can do something on draft night.

2 player draft. Ivey and holmgren

exaggerate much?!?!

say what you want to criticize Randle, his contract isn't one of them. (a) it's like 50 or so on the salary list (b) he didn't screws the Knicks out of every last dollar coming off a career year

Put Randle on a team like Denver, Atlanta or Portland where he plays as a 3rd option around other vets and he will most likely play to his potential. That's a great role for him IMO. While I would love to move him for Fox - I think we would have already heard more smoke by now - with the deadline being only 4 days away.

No. Ivey holmgren 1-2. Next 2-3 players down a tier. No doubt about it
