I'm not really sweating it, but the Knicks could have beat that package.

CJ McCollum is off the table likely heading to the Pelicans. Leon should shift gears and focus on trying to trade the veterans to get Cam, Deuce some minutes. I hope they can deal both Kemba and Burks to get some point guard help if not to clear a path for Deuce to play with the starters. Dealing only Kemba will do nothing, it will just solidify Burks' role as a starting pg

Good...I like CJ, but not for us. With that said, not sure what direction the Pels are going in. CJ doesn't move the needle much.

Agreed CJ doesn’t fit the timeline of this team. I’m surprised that the pels are willing to absorb his contract.

With this trade happening it opens up talks for Fox, I’m sure he’s there if we want to go that direction.

I just hope we don’t make a move just to make a move . EF, Burks, kemba are all on team friendly contracts that can be moved either now or later .

We need a starting caliber pg that’s the big glaring hole I see .

We need to lock Mitch up as well.

Echo everyone's sentiments. Sigh of relief with a Pels deal. Good luck CJ, but does not fit the time line, nor do we need another 2 guard.

man feels like POR just having a fire sale or something.

Have to make these trades early enough that Dame agrees to a trade by Thursday.

Ah here is the crux of it

Ahhh...I'm definitely glad we didn't touch that one. Solid deal for Portland.

And not for nothing, Jonathan thinks the #9 pick is strong. Knicks currently sit at #10.

I am gonna do a 180 degree turn in a single day and say that the Knicks should have traded for CJ, given how cheaply NO has obtained him. Josh Hart and a protected first rounder is like us trading Alec Burks and our protected first rounder. I could have lived with a Robinson-Randle-RJ-EF-CJ lineup for a couple of years, replacing EF with IQ along the way. Not an elite team, but a certain threat to go deep in the playoffs.

Am I missing something here? Is CJ's health so suspect that Portland has been willing to trade him for pennies on the dollar?

I would not get too happy. We will do what we always do and win a meaningless game at the end of the season to drop down a pick only for a star to get drafted a pick before us. Especially with Mr all I care about is to win the next game as our coach.

martin @ 2/8/2022 11:41 AM
Pels fortifying for Zion?

And Portland going after someone like Kyrie?

That's what I am reading

The pessimism just oozes man. Just enjoy the ride.

The Knicks literally have 8 guys 23 and under. They are balancing winning and development.

Of those 8 guys, only McBride, Cam, and Jericho are not getting consistent minutes.

Is this unreasonable? I just don't see that. Bitch and moan all you want but RJ, IQ, Mitch, Grimes, Toppin are getting minutes give or take.

What more? Throw McBride and Cam out there just cause? Cam should prob be getting consistent minutes, but the 2 second round picks?

What are your expectations with the 23 and under crew?

martin @ 2/8/2022 12:05 PM
Anyone get a feel that Harden to Philly for Simmons and say Danny Green?

I am sorry all I know is losing. I became a fan during the Starbury era. The Knicks have beat any and all optimisms out of me. I was mostly just a H20 fan before that. I was too young to really care about basketball during the Ewing era. Like SAS says about the Cowboys what can go wrong will go wrong but for me it's with the Knicks. So now I expect for things to go wrong. Sad to say I am right about that way more than I am wrong.

I don't think that's the criticism you meant it to be...

It was not a criticism it was his motto. It's what he says when he plays all the preseason games like its the playoffs. Every other team in the NBA knows that preseason games mean nothing because even though we won all those preseason games this year is a waste. He will do it all over again next preseason.
