Knicks · Randle Physicality vs Ejection (page 1)

Listen, I know people have strong feelings generally in this board. Notwithstanding Randle’s ejection, I absolutely love the physicality he is playing with on the block. Love love. I want that guy every night. The chip on the shoulder and all. Love it. Not sure what happened after that resulted in the 2nd tech. Don’t really care. Comes with the territory, but cost us a bit. If he can bring that same energy and yet be able to control it before getting the 2nd silly T, man, I’m on board. That man is big, strong and aggressive. He will be a force to be reckoned with if he isn’t just popping 18 foot fadeaways.

Channel that inner Marcus Morris. I like the energy and physicality. Randle has another level in him that I am not sure we have seen yet. Beast Mode.

Randle needs to see a pyschiatrist. He seriously needs help..

Why do people go back to Marcus Morris? He was as overrated a Knick as there can be!

It is a credit to Randle that he has developed his skills to an All-Star level. He clearly cannot be guarded one on one, and teams definitely game plan to stop him. However, this team will never get to the next level with him unless he develops a smarter approach to the game. He gets frustrated too easily, he commits too many unforced turnovers, and he just does not seem to have the mental focus needed to be a main cog in a championship team. He needs to get his mental aspect of the game together. Guys like Magic, Bird, LeBron, Kobe, and other superstars played a cerebral game beyond the mere physical game. Randle needs to develop that aspect of his game or else we need to trade him because he is not showing right now that he can be the second or even third best player on a championship team, which is what we need him to be if he is going to stay a Knick longterm.

Randle is a “battering ram”…..there is only one way with a battering ram…..what I have seen from Randle this makes me question his mental fortitude……

I don’t usually pay attention to Berman of the post but he was speculating from sources that Randle is jealous of RJs ascension……based on how erratic he has been I think that this may play a part…or could be something personal….but I would sell on him the first chance I got…..I do not think he can play in this market with another pt guard or alpha….I just think last year went to his head…..

The guy has one of the strongest physical presences at 6’8 250 and often settles for fadeaway jumpshots. So when I see him banging down low, it’s an aggression that doesn’t often appear in modern NBA, but that ejection play reminded me of Anthony Mason on the block. I’m not pro fighting outside a ring, and I though the second tech was dumb, but I don’t want Randle thinking he has to shy away from that sort of physicality.

Resorting to Marcus Morris or even Sheed isn’t about specific talents - it’s about a mindset that says “no layups” or “stop this”. In the absence of a 6’11 point guard that can shoot 3s from half court, this is the mindset that is necessary. The “not in my house” attitude that locks down the floor and bangs.

Randle has every physical asset to be this player. Even before Durant chose GS, I was looking for Randle and Russell because of their physical attributes at their positions. Only now am I seeing him using that physicality without regressing to spinover-Randle. I like this Randle. A lot.

When he channels his inner “Oak” but gets thrown out we freak out.
Love the passion and the bully ball.
So easy to say what he needs. If he was all that we’d be paying him. 30mm plus and be all so lucky.
But we Don’t and he is not all that either.

Randle is not getting calls. Period. It is not entirely his fault he’s going crazy

He got us a draft pick and hit a big 3 in the revenge game against Porzingis in the Garden
