Currently backing up Ja and is easily one of the best backup PGs in the league. Solid playmaker and really good defender. Improved shooter. He is only 25 years old. Duke alum that shares the same agent as Barrett (due for a contract extension.) He isn’t some world beater but would be a nice pairing with Rose as an alternative to Jalen Brunson. Memphis was winning with Ja out and Jones running point.

Agree - he would sure cost a lot less as well.

this is exactly the type of player the FO signs, then Thibs plays 35 minutes while everyone here screams that IQ, Deuce and some guy we drafted 40th are not getting enough burn and that's the reason we are again around .500

Same with Brunson... lets target guys with significant upside or focus on developing our own guys as players or assets.

Tyus Jones is exactly where he should be. Playing meaningful backup minutes as a late first rounder. Occasional spot starter... ask more from him and you see the limitations 6 footers with average athleticism and average shooting face in the NBA.

We'd all prefer to get a better PG but who is available that we could obtain without gutting the roster and/or picks? I was all in for moving Randle for a PG but we do need one either way. Nobody would expect Tyus to become anything but a stopgap or back up PG but even that would be an upgrade to what we've been running the past few seasons.

I hear that and hope that the FO makes their decisions based on helping our team vs working with players Thibs likes... he's playing Cam not a bit and that seems to be going well. I'm not a KAT fan but if the FO felt he would help us - they should make whatever deal regardless of his history with Thibs. I mean what is Thibs going to do in a few years when Rose and Taj are in the Big 3 league? He'll have to retire or go back to the Bulls?

I see constant comments about us not having cap room. Knicks can very easily create cap room. It’s a non-issue.

We have to be realistic. Yes, it's good to shoot for the stars. But the team also needs to have a contingency plan and Tyus Jones is as good as one as anything else out there.

Brunson, SGA, Fox, D Murray from the Spurs. Hopefully someone of this level (Brunson being the minimum) and age range. Rose as backup. McBride and Jokubaitis are the 2 developmental backups. I don’t really see the need to draft a PG this year. We have everything but a high level starter, which isn’t a given this draft.

Brunson and Jones dont move the needle and you have to spend to get them so what is the point. Those are guys you get when you have nobody. We have somebodys. We have Rose/IQ/McBride and thats good enough to pass on guys like Brunson or Tyus Jones. If the Knicks were to win the lottery and move up to the top 3 packaging that pick. Maybe something like Cam/Obi/Pick#2 for DMurray. Then you resign Mitch and you have a great defensive core and still a bunch of young guys to develop in McBride/IQ/Grimes/Sims.

Of course that is not happening with pick #12 so its a pipe dream.

Best bet is to build chemistry and develop guys and hope someone pops.
