Knicks · Tari eason---Jaylen Brown with better D (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 4/24/2022 8:30 AM

We dont currently have a match up with Brown or Tatum and at some point youre gonna need that in the east. New longer video of eason 6-8 225

I don’t think so... but nice highlights

Reminds me of what Cam Reddish should be.

I have high hopes for Cam Reddish. I think he will surprise a lot of people next season

Reminds me of renaldo Balkman with his motor. A legit 6-8 st wing
franco12 @ 4/24/2022 3:19 PM
Tankathon has him going 10. Glad we won those gam3s down the stretch.

I think you are just randomly naming people that are 6’8. Balkman has similarities but Eason has a much better outside shot and a more definitive commitment to defense.

Reddish’ only similarity is that they both play SF. Reddish started with a much higher upside, imo, but his mentality has been his holdback. A commitment to improving his 3pt shot and defense would be a good starting place for Reddish. Reddish is now a reclamation project.

If you watch Jaylen Brown highlights, I think he a solid upside comp for Eason, the same way Marcus Smart is a solid upside comp for McBride. It’s not that they are there today, but with the right kind of work and commitment, they have the right physical attributes. McBride I think has a higher upside than Smart (hard argument to make now that Smart one DPOY), but I like McBride’s offense better and see similar tenacity on defense. Jaylen has a lot of the same wiry body control moves and high energy plays. Both are much better shooters than Balkman ever was.

Only knock on Eason is that his performance came largely off the bench rather than against top line starters. But Patrick Williams also came off the bench and he is fine.

I think it is ok to tell us you don’t see the similarities. I just think your choices of comps are lazy.

Caseloads @ 4/24/2022 7:09 PM
Ok. I think you just aren’t good at comping. Let me break this down, so you don’t have to wonder:

I am not basing it on height alone

Dude, balkman got drafted for his D

Reddish’ only similarity is that they both play SF. Reddish started with a much higher upside, imo, but his mentality has been his holdback.

True, I agree

A commitment to improving his 3pt shot and defense would be a good starting place for Reddish. Reddish is now a reclamation project.

Exactly. Reddish is talented, but low motor, low iq, thinks he’s the real thing, when he is just a duplicate

If you watch Jaylen Brown highlights, I think he a solid upside comp for Eason,

Completely different from jsylen brown. Eason is a bigger, shot blocking guy. Brown is a slashing SG who plays man to man D

the same way Marcus Smart is a solid upside comp for McBride.

No way. Smart is just much bigger. There is a huge difference between 6’4 smart and 6’2 McBride

It’s not that they are there today, but with the right kind of work and commitment, they have the right physical attributes. McBride I think has a higher upside than Smart (hard argument to make now that Smart one DPOY), but I like McBride’s offense better and see similar tenacity on defense.

Ok, I hope that you are right

I like the way he keeps his head up with a great dribble drive skill--paramount to be a 3 level scorer. One of if not the most athletic players in the draft. He avg 17-7 in 20 min playing time. Big body could be 230-240 with pro trainers and maybe even add to the explosion. Hes got a funky shot but its smooth and it got better over the year. Good player on D able to mix and match different positions Long arms jets in his legs high motor. Bigger guy than Reddish better inside rebounding defending but has the same or better defensive length on the perimeter and ball. Hes ready to play but accepts role on bench. gives us that size 6-8 225 that matches up physically with Toronto and Boston has. No lead guard in this draft ready to go with as much physical talent as Eason. Daniels is good too but will be a waiting game.

An interesting breakdown on Eason. This comps him as Marcus Morris. Not sure I am there.

I love this kid’s length and athleticism and think what I predict for his combine results may move him up the charts. I’d be willing to make him a promise at 11 to shut him down. Maybe not as flashy a scorer as Mathurin, but this guy checks every box from a position of need for us.

This may be the first draft where you and I are arguing for the same players. Dyson is my number 2 and the guy I would pick if we moved a vet for a mid 1st rd pick.

I think we need some bigger players.
eason 6-8 225 Alondes williams pick 42 and Kofi Cockburn to fall out of the draft as UDFA. Id rather go with Williams in rd 2 as our next PG prospect. He ran out of gas last year but was really good for the most off it. Cockburn was a top 5 pick 20 yeasr ago but I like him with Sims to develop both. Not really seeing a 3 point specialist that is necessary to draft. back up SF and 3rd G and C.

he's about the same height and build as reddish but looks bigger and is active and therefore feels bigger.

Daniels has a higher ceiling, but do we go in that direction?

Also, is the league changing and going away from the silky smooth thin guys like KD (Dyson Daniels) to more durable bangers ala Boston is Tatum and Brown?

totally right. we need height and not to be undersized. I'd say daniels first round, alondes second round and cockburn UDFA.

Hard to project. Morris was bigger and more polished by the time he left Kansas. Does Season fill out similarly? If he does, I think he loses some value as a multi-positional defender. Still wouldn't be bad career path to follow.

If Obi and IQ start the season like they finished, then yes, it was worth losing draft standing.

However, if Obi doesn’t (I’m less worried about IQ), then it will be a bit more painful watching a player like Eason perform if he slips like Curry did years ago.

Although I am confident that this group can find really good players anywhere in the draft.

Here is hoping we win the lottery for once and both questions are academic!
