Im just looking at side by side comparisons and its just rediculous. We had Fourmier for a year as one of the main cogs of this team and spent HUGE money omn him.
Grayson allen 11 points 41% 3 salary 2mm
Evan Fourimer 14 points 39% 3 17mm
Duncan Robinson 11 points 38% 18mm
Cant go back in time but we can see going forward is that you let the bigger contract go and mine another comparable player for much less.
And that was a big no no what we did last offseason. Instead of mining we PAID various positions so we dont really have the flexibility of grabbing a higher end player in free agency. Cant be loyal to anyone for big money nor can you pay role players well over the MLE for someone u can snag for pennies on the dollar if you look hard enough
Boiling it down to just 3pt percentage is not even close to telling the real story. Grayson is getting way easier shots than the others. Put both the other players with Giannis and watch their numbers improve even more.
A lot of Duncan's 3's are off motion. EF don't get a steady diet of shots as wide open as Grayson. We also don't have a Giannis so Grayson would not have that kind of space on a consistent basis if he played with us. He is shooting practice shots with how much attention Giannis gets in the paint.
Honestly, we need to first stop drafting the Kevin Knoxes and get more Donovan Mitchells.
Pair Grayson Allens next to Jah MOrants or Giannis’s and they look good.
Lean on them they become “Howard Eisley” types that are over paid and not ready to step up.
Briggs is not incorrect but the horse comes before the carriage.
Grimes, McBride, Simms... how are these not Grayson Allen types (aside from not being dirty white guys)

Grimes is very much in this ilk of a guy that can capitalize from getting open looks from stars
Its why Evan was signed last year. Jules decline and RJ is not quite there but didn’t Evan after january hit the most 3’s in the league?
Truth is Memphis is looking good with and without Morant. Impressive team game.
Besides his dirty as hell play (which makes him not really worth having) I like Allens’ game a lot. Everyone here is right though. If you can shoot, you’re going to look f’ing great next to Giannis at times or even most of the times. Meanwhile, we actually have players besides Fournier that can shoot a little and would also look f’ing great next to Giannis. Therefore, first and foremost, we need at least 2/3 of these things to happen.
1) Julius gets his head out of his ass. I don’t have any bit of faith in him anymore though so I am on the “Trade Julius” bandwagon.
2) RJ continues to develop as a playmaker and as an actual serious threat that opposing teams have to start being concerned about.
3) We get a star somehow, someway.
Then we can talk about Grayson Allen at 2 million…. Which I’m sure he’ll eventually start making plenty more than that, despite his antics.
WOW for once I agree with Briggs!

I'd take Allen/Bulloch 1000x over Fournier. Give me that gritty 3&D guy over that 'shooter/scorer' who plays no D and is soft.

Except that Grayson Allen makes $4.5M this year and will make $9M+ per year over the following 2 seasons. Friendly reminder that the Knicks did sign a team friendly contract for a key cog SG at a comparable salary for next season (with a team option for the following mind-you). His name is Alec Burks.
