Knicks · MSG mgt. Ques NHL Rangers doing ALL right vs NBA Knicks doing ALL Wrong? post Y2K (page 1)

Can anyone answer that question regards to MSG Rangers Pro sports success ?

I know this may be bad thread, NHL isn't NBA and vice versa. Only common thing is MSG brass management of pro Hockey
versus the many decades of MSG brass running the Knickerbockers.

There any hope? for Knicks to have success as NHL Rangers before leaving planet earth?
I don't think so. Dolan isn't going anywhere and Sports experts and writers believe signing Worldwide Wesley and Leon Rose was correct
thing to lead Knicks to the promise land.

Real world New York Knicks are a dysfunctional organization perceived. However since Dolan knows NYK rated as one of the “top worth” franchises
in Professional Sports $$$ Success, its the sole bottom line. Max contracts makes is N/A to Knicks thus Giannis, KD, other top stars won't get
$$$ from Knickerbocker brass ever!

How'd you get REAL GOOD like other Pro teams when elite NBA players AVOID the NBA Garden home.
Much younger Lebron back then was an example in moving out from Cleveland and to other teams, cause of $$$

*Ouch

Can this conversation wait until the Rangers win their first Stanley Cup since 1994?

Its a good thread and worth discussing.
I’d say knicks have made some very good decisions but they did not execute. Hiring Phil was a great idea, but it did not execute. IM sure man non phil fans were against it and it was a good call.
It was only 6 years past his last chip as a coach. The Triangle might have worked but in hindsight harder to contruct a team and coach it than thought. It did not execute. No Jordan, No Kobe and it was a big ask for Melo at his age even if the desire was there from the get go. Im not defending it. It did not work and when it was time to fire him, it was more than evident.
He proved to be an ineffective executive.
But we have not starphuched since Amare or traded our picks. Rangers moved on early from their higher priced players and sucked it up to get higher picks. I feel we have tried similar. Fizdale was an attempt to get a young charasmatic coach with a young team.
Good idea that many fans loved the idea of. “Blow it up”.
Oh boy did we ever! Last year 4th seed was great right? Sort of.
KP was very unfortunate but thibs and Randle that year looked like we struck gold!
Last year was not.
As fans we over react so maybe we not that far off getting back on track. We seem to be putting in a solid asset base. That is very different then cashing it in on AMare’s knees and trying to build on in prime Melo with a bare cupboard of assets in the aftermath. For gods sake, we banked on JR Smith!!!! We plucked him from his run in China. It was a strike short year and he went to get some money. Talented, but a bone head!
sometimes teams do the right thing but it does not translate. It feels bad after a long stretch of doing the wrong things. Seems harder to decipher progress.

Because hockey and basketball are different sports maybe?

The devils have won 3 Stanley cups and been to 5x Finals since 1994, and Rangers fans act like this is a dynasty

Still with Rangers exit from a good run
NHL Playoffs, NYR FAR ..far ahead of knicks
In this era, prior era's any way you slice it & dice it.

We all will pass away before NY KNICKERBOCKERS
Win or is relevant 🤔 again to seriously contend.
We know it but must admit it.

I think this is a flawed way of looking at it. Since the Knicks were last consistently in the playoffs, the Rangers have built a team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals, that team got old so they tore it down, and then they rebuilt the team through the draft, and then now they have a completely different roster that went to the ECF.

The Rangers are contenders now, and they will continue to grow and get better. That team has players other NHL rosters want.

What about the Knicks? Bwahahahaha. As a Rangers fan, it is kind of insulting to have you dismiss the team so flippantly. The Rangers have provided me much joy in the 21st century. The Knicks?

Nalod @ 6/14/2022 7:58 AM
Knicks are doing the right things. It a matter of executing.
I eat right, take vitamins and exercise but get hit by a bus. I did not execute all things. Knicks hired PHil Jax few short years past him coaching Lakers to a title. but he did not execute because we did not have the players or the coach. He went to trade KP, but got fired. It was the right thing, but ownership and fans lost faith by then. KP got hurt and his value plummetedd.
The Amare-Melo era was well intended and executed about as expected given the fundamentals at the time. Amare was universally thought to not be a good idea. that was part one. Then we got Melo. On paper a good idea.
that was mixed and the results were too.
Rangers/NHL is a different animal with a true minor league system. Gleague is not ready to do that quite yet.
